#LogLoads64 Gremlins II - The New Batch Dateline 1990 and G2 should be a FANTASTIC #C64 game, but, the devs got a few things catastrophically wrong, which made this an average to bad game. The main thing is just how flippin' hard it is. Man oh man. It is crazy. The worst offender being: getting >
Really lovely C64 loading screen for Gremlins 2, showing Mogwai "Gizmo" in his cute iteration, emerging from a wooden drawer with a brass handle. A leather armchair is nearby plus the ELITE logo. It is a really nice piece of work.

Building a vintage Frankenstein PC from 2 90s machines: an IBM and a custom build. For now, my dreams are shattered against a ribbon cable that's too short. It's a combo 34-pin/card-edge cable for both 3.5" and 5.25" drives. #retrocomputing #retrogaming #90s

Just watched Backrooms. I've always been obsessed with liminal spaces, so I checked it out after playing/watching the Japanese Exit 8. Honestly, not sure if I liked it. It gave me chills in a few spots, but not everything landed. #Backrooms #LiminalSpaces #movies

My Top 30 #C64 Guilty Pleasures - No. 5 Space Harrier It was always going to be a tall order converting Sega’s state-of-the-art, hydraulic-powered arcade blaster to the C64. And yes, it’s jerky & nowhere near as spectacular. But somehow, the speed, chaos & sheer ambition still made it fun to play.

#LogLoads64 Space Harrier I saw @c64reloaded.bsky.social feature this as part of their excellent #C64 "Guilty Pleasures" series (check it out) and I couldn't believe I hadn't featured it either! Turns out, this is actually quite fun and is a valiant effort to convert SEGA's seminal arcade game.
Really decent loading pic of SPACE HARRIER on the C64. The SH logo gleaming in gold a one-eyed massive-tusked mammoth and the big silver three-eyed robot Dude. And os course the Player in blue jeans and a red jacket, looking at us, waving.

My Top 30 #C64 Guilty Pleasures - No. 7 Wonder Boy I loved Wonder Boy in the arcades, so I was horrified when I loaded this up and saw those ugly graphics. But once you hit fire, it plays better than it looks. The sprite’s awful and the music grates, but it’s colourful, addictive & plenty of fun.

I got my first Action Replay cartridge for my #Commodore64 #C64 back in 1986, and it completely changed how I experienced games. It opened the door to experimenting with game code. csdb.dk/group/?id=3509 What are your memories of this legendary piece of hardware?

Had an HP 9830A calculator/computer for 10 years and it never worked. Found another and got it yesterday. It also didn't work but with board swapping, it had one bad board. After board swapping, the original had 4 bad boards. Further repairs in my future. #vintagecomputer #retrocomputing

#LogLoads64 Gremlins Following on from my previous BSky Post: here we have another Gremlin, of a different sort. There were 3 franchise games on the #C64 and this, the first, is a sort of nice Berzerk clone, but with a lot more going on. It could do with being just a touch faster in its run time.
Nice title screen for Gremlins (1984) for the C64. It shows a bad gremlin, with trademark toothy-grin.

#LogLoads64 Little Computer People Some games, particularly #C64 games, are just solid nostalgia classics & LCP is one of those. I only ever had it on cassette back in the day, which is a shame, as the disk version is the way to go with more "depth" to it. It is still worth a play now. Fascinating.
The title screen for Little Computer People on the C64. Showing a ring-bound blue-covered book a pencil, eraser and calculator.

#LogLoads64 Potty Pigeon Dateline: 1984. The #C64 scene is just waking up from the genesis period of '82-3 and Software Houses are springing up. It was the best of times... Tony Crowther & Ben Daglish, likely off their faces, doing the biz. This actually has a great deal of charm and is fair loved.
Frankly a pretty shitty effort for Gremlin Graphics' first game loading screen. It screamsd SPECCY like, well: everything.

A Zelda-style game on the Commodore 64 that looks closer to the SNES than the NES. Mythos was an incredible demo hiding inside a C64 release, showing just how far it could be pushed, before being quietly abandoned.

Updated my PCB design for a 24-pin compatible flash ROM from years ago. This can replace the ROMs in long-board C64s. Adds a bank switch and breaks out the address lines used by SIDKick Pico. These 64K PLCC chips are not so easy to find nowadays, but you can still get them.
