Canada is relaunching its Task Force on Preventive Health Care in April, but a core problem hasn’t been fixed. On #WorldCancerDay, I explain why that matters and what’s at stake for Canadians in my latest op-ed in the Hill Times. www.hilltimes.com/story/2026/0...

OK this is ridiculous. The draft new Canadian public health guidance-development mechanism doubles down on excluding subject matter experts from voting roles, restricts membership to people from inside the EBM pseudoscience bubble, and sets up to funnel public money to McMaster-GRADE courses etc.

Just checking but does everyone know that the medical managers who want to control guidance now claim that 👉having subject matter expertise👈 is a conflict of interest, as a tactic to reserve power for themselves (pure in their comprehensive ignorance)? If you wonder why so much guidance is 💩… 🤡🌎

Public healthcare is not going to survive without public oversight. There's no reason for it. Just that the public that benefits from it isn't allowed to see what goes on under the hood. We're prevented from looking out for our own interests by people who insist they're entitled to do it for us.

For #BCAM, know the "rule of 40s": start mammography at age 40 for 40% reduction in risk of death due to #breastcancer and easier treatments. For the 40% of women with #densebreasts, 40% of cancers are missed on mammography and adding MRI helps; US if MRI not possible. @densebreastinfo.bsky.social

Alarming! We need action in 🇨🇦 to ensure breast cancer can be found early. That starts with revision of national guidelines which dangerously recommend screening starting at 50. We need reform of the @cantaskforce.bsky.social panel which has no subject matter experts. news.un.org/en/story/202...

We're making progress 🇨🇦 but still a ways to go for optimal and equitable screening. Missing from this chart is supplemental screening for dense breasts and high-risk programs because so few provinces offer them. Let's give all Canadians the best chance to find breast cancer early!
