Literally the most stressful part about raising a three-year-old is cars and roads

Next Dem government genuinely should have a "Covid reckoning" but about whose fault it is that like 200,000 extra people died during the Delta wave because they refused vaccination and who convinced them to do that and why.

As we were experiencing the best recovery anywhere in the world from COVID, a fire hose of anti-Democrat propaganda convinced most people in the country that the economy was on the precipice and everyone was going to lose their job. The bosses and the media worked together to destroy worker power.

Just generally the story of the last 5 years is Revenge of The Bosses, including Trump's win in 2024

"First tight labor market in living memory" is pretty much the Rosetta Stone behind the elite backlash. They saw workers with options for the first time and lost their fucking minds. They want slaves! Their admiration of shithole Gulf petrostates is not subtle!

"Slashing headcount" was a dumb thing to lead the public with but it's been *the* main ruling class obsession ever since the Covid recovery resulted in a tight labor market for the first time in decades and workers started asserting their rights and bargaining position again.

So under this Supreme Court's treatment of U.S. law and presidential power, Joe Biden couldn't forgove my student loans, but perhaps Donald Trump can forgive his own tax debt. Wild.

so like lemme weigh in on this as someone who is more financially comfortable than many in my generational cohort: everything I have gained seems precarious and temporary because I know the people with real money will take it all from me the second they get an opportunity and no one will protect me.

Every Republican state treats its cities as conquered territories to be ruled by fiat, and this gets approximately one thousandth the degree of national attention and critique as anytime a Republican voter in California or New York feels underappreciated.

Oof. I just read your post in the most uncharitable, pedantic way possible, and I gotta tell ya: it's not looking good for you.

This is a good article, worth reading. Gigantic SUVs are a public health threat. Why don’t we treat them like one? The anti-smoking playbook is worth studying and learning from, and is completely applicable to oversized cars. Via @davidzipper.bsky.social in @vox.com #CarBloat

The anti-tobacco playbook could help turn the US public against their beloved oversized cars.

Counterpoint: Something like Fantastic Four telling a serialized story going on 64 years is cool as hell. See @ryannorth.ca's current FF run.
