@ethanmarcotte.com Hi Ethan. I don't know if you'll see this, but I had You Deserve a Tech Union on my Kobo Wishlist for a while and noticed it's no longer available. Is another edition coming, or should I seek it elsewhere? Thanks!

Phantom voice in the wilderness echoes: if you're an #Everton supporter in #Seattle, check out the Seattle Evertonians group. We'd love you for you to join us at our friendly local pub for matchdays.

Welcome to the club! Connect with the Iowa Toffees if you're near Des Moines. Nothing like watching with your local crew. Envious of your start times — most matches are 7 a.m. here in Seattle.

Comments on Instagram suggest it was edited because the original version included something about a name for Dibling that "made him look like a dope."

Same. Youtube said the video was removed by the uploader. I think the preview text said something about Branthwaite and McNeil.

It's a tough sell that it's a poetic metaphor from harvesting rapeseed, but I once did a deep dive and made a case for it. An early version called Clean it Up has this verse (I think "parallel lines" evolved from "trackless ruts"): In the choppy woods Of the trackless ruts I compose myself
A large field of rapeseed with parallel lines caused by a harvester receding into the distance.

Someone tried to say that Pickford would have saved the equalizer if he hadn’t shifted his weight, but he only did so reacting to Messi’s move as four defenders ignored him. Tuchel tried to park the bus but did so without a plan and Pickford may as well have been alone. bsky.app/profile/edit...

It's almost as if he saw Messi making a move on that side unmarked by a single defender. Pickford was hung out to dry.

Declan Rice should have gotten a red and Mexico was denied at least two clear penalties. I don’t know how anyone can feel good about that.

With @darkhorse.com selling out and reprinting @evandorkin.bsky.social's Nerd Inferno (and don't forget last year's Beasts of Burden omnibus!), people should hunt down Hectic Planet. I put together a guide of sorts to help folks wade through the publication history. denmchenry.com/posts/hectic...

The problem with being a person who is good at something like content operations, is that if I do my job well, everything runs smoothly and my work is invisible. I'm not particularly career-minded, and just like things to be good, but I wish for this type of impact was more valued.

Neville Southall, affectionately known as Big Nev, played for Everton Football Club from 1981 to 1998, and is widely regarded as their greatest ever goalkeeper, and arguably the greatest goalkeeper of his era. Tools: Tombow Fudenosuke WS-BH brush pen, Copic N2 and N4 markers.
Ink and gray Copic marker sketch in a cartoon style of a serious looking man in an old Everton kit with a mustache, looking off to the side. The net of the goal is visible behind him.

Correction: Everton's landlord tried to start another club called Everton in retaliation when they moved over high rent. He wasn't permitted to use the name and settled on Liverpool. #ifYouknowYourHistory #efc #evertonFc #everton

Shaking off the rust with a quick 3-minute ink sketch of the greatest ever striker, the original number 9, the inimitable William Ralph "Dixie" Dean of the the Famous #EFC. We need the new owners to know their history and bring #Everton back to glory.

An unrecognized benefit of alt text is insight into how you see the image, both for the poster and the audience. You have to consider whether the image says what you mean it to say, etc.

0-3-4 to end the season, and let's not forget getting knocked out of the EFL Cup by Wolves (!) and the FA Cup 0-3 on penalties to a promoted side that's now in Europe. And Moyes doesn't understand why supporters are frustrated.

another way to put this: if somebody says something, you don't directly engage with what they said Instead you turn to everybody else and say "ok let me tell you why they're saying this" instead of replying you're annotating

I left a comment that question 1 was highly biased as discomfort is not a product of a lack of understanding, and this is a fascist technology that must be destroyed. There's no justification for a tool that tells kids to kill themselves, even if a salesman tells you it might help with homework.

In MLS broadcasts, they always look at the subs at some point and say something dumb like, "And now let's take a look at the benches built by the Home Depot," as if you're looking at the benches they're sitting on.

We dont “receive and process information” from the environment. We experience and perceive the world because the way we function is through the transformation and exchange of physical material with the environment, an ability completely out of scope for computers and MATH.

I made a badge for the Viewable with Any Browser Campaign back in the 90s, so this was very nostalgic for me. I just made an #inclusiveFront badge as a GIF like back in the day and put them both on my site. This one is based partly on the flag of the Spanish Popular Front.
Ranbow flag with the three-pointed star of the International Brigades on a white circle, as styled on the flag of the Spanish Popular Front.

I came up with the term Inclusive Front to mean the band of people who care about the web's inclusivity. It's a play on words; we largely work on the front end, but I feel at times we're also like a political 'popular front' against a poorly built web that excludes people. I've had stickers made!
A packet of holographic stickers on sheets from Sticker App.

Each sticker has the text:
#inclusive.front{}A single #inclusive.front{} sticker stuck on top of a Web Platform sticker (also holographic - much rainbow).

I am very bad about using the Bookwyrm. The main instance is at bookwyrm.social, but I'm on a small instance at wyrms.de that bills itself as inspired by Ursula K. LeGuin's novel the Dispossessed. (The site's no different, so I think that's about the mod's ethos. Lots of Le Guin fans.)
