It's a tough sell that it's a poetic metaphor from harvesting rapeseed, but I once did a deep dive and made a case for it. An early version called Clean it Up has this verse (I think "parallel lines" evolved from "trackless ruts"): In the choppy woods Of the trackless ruts I compose myself
A large field of rapeseed with parallel lines caused by a harvester receding into the distance.

Neville Southall, affectionately known as Big Nev, played for Everton Football Club from 1981 to 1998, and is widely regarded as their greatest ever goalkeeper, and arguably the greatest goalkeeper of his era. Tools: Tombow Fudenosuke WS-BH brush pen, Copic N2 and N4 markers.
Ink and gray Copic marker sketch in a cartoon style of a serious looking man in an old Everton kit with a mustache, looking off to the side. The net of the goal is visible behind him.

I drew Phil Elverum and he didn’t seem happy to have to stand still in my imagination for a whole 10 minutes. Sorry, Phil. denmchenry.com/drawings/phil/

Shaking off the rust with a quick 3-minute ink sketch of the greatest ever striker, the original number 9, the inimitable William Ralph "Dixie" Dean of the the Famous #EFC. We need the new owners to know their history and bring #Everton back to glory.
Ink and gray alcohol marker sketch in a simple cartoon style of the bust of a man with prominent eyebrows, a gap in his teeth, and fashionable 1930s curls at the corners of his brow.

I made a badge for the Viewable with Any Browser Campaign back in the 90s, so this was very nostalgic for me. I just made an #inclusiveFront badge as a GIF like back in the day and put them both on my site. This one is based partly on the flag of the Spanish Popular Front.
Ranbow flag with the three-pointed star of the International Brigades on a white circle, as styled on the flag of the Spanish Popular Front.

Because @ironspike.bsky.social quote post this with a great @evandorkin.bsky.social page, here's mine from @davidlapham.bsky.social. The last page of Stray Bullets: Sunshine & Roses #25, where Beth, Kretch and Spanish Scott finally get away to Santa Fe for some bonding time over peyote.
Panel 1: Kretch tilts his head back, blissfully humming, "Mmmmm." Panel 2: Beth looks blankly ahead: "That tasted disgusting. I don't feel anything yet." Panel 3: A bird rests on a nearby branch in the desert stillness. 4. In Kretch's mind, with manic glee we see him smashing the butt of his rifle into someone out of frame as blood splatters. 5. A blanket with water and crackers sits in front of them as Kretch and Beth sit cross-legged on either side of Spanish Scott, who's kneeling. Beth rests her head on Scott's shoulder and everyone looks at peace. Scott says, "Love."

Is this a quirky copy of ex.mag 05 by @peow.bsky.social, or does this editorial note collide with this speech balloon in all copies? “Fix this page -red layer”
Text overlaying a speech balloon. The speech balloon says the following (split over 5 lines): "I rarely get to hear your voice since you're not much for conversation… and I do so love your timbre. So won't you read?" Colliding with the words "I rarely get" and "much for" at the beginning of the first and third lines are the following editorial directions: "Fix this page -red layer." The story is printed in black ink with spot red (and gray and pink halftones).

Here's the ROM fan art from 1982 that came up in the AMA. I own the issue and thought it'd be fun to share.
ROM fan art with the caption, "Dear Avalanch, Get Well Soon!" Avalanche, in full costume, lies in a hospital bed with arms bandaged, head on hand in frustration, looking at cards that say things like, "Get well soon!" He says, "Bah!" The wall behind and the floor beneath the bed are cracked. In the foreground are flowers from various characters, including Blob. The art is signed, "Yours truly, Evan Dorkin."

Way back in the 90s, I saw Eddie Mekka from TV’s Laverne and Shirley. I shouted to my sister and cousin, “Hey! It’s the Big Ragu!” He spun on his heel and speedwalked away.

I don’t really think it’s embarrassing, but Bun E. Carlos, Greetings from Bunezuela, because it sounds goofy and makes me seem like some old guy who collects obscure vinyl. Aw, crap.
Album cover styled like a vacation greeting card showing a beach with a drum stool, an umbrella with Bun E. Carlos’s face on the panels, and his face drawn in the sand with the word “greetings.”

Continuing with the re-read of all of Stray Bullets, and #18 is a special kind of fun and a delightful surprise if you love old movies, hardboiled detectives, film noir, even screwball comedies. You may recognize some familiar faces. Agatha Christie vibes at the end, even. @davidlapham.bsky.social
The cover of Stray Bullets #18 by David Lapham, showing Amy Racecar as if from a hardboiled detective movie poster, turning and looking past the viewer holding a handgun with neon signs behind her that read "Girls Girls Girls," "XXX," "Hot Sex," and a martini glass.

I’m re-reading Stray Bullets and so happy to see this photo in the back of #10, of my favorite people in comics and the only ones whose work I’ve bought consistently for more than 30 years. Evan Dorkin, Sarah Dyer and Maria and David Lapham. @evandorkin.bsky.social , @davidlapham.bsky.social
Photo well described by this accompanying caption: Figure 10-1: Eisner Night. Evan Dorkin, Sarah Dyer, Maria and David Lapham.
Evan racked up two Eisners for Eltingville and Milk & Cheese. David took best writer/artist. Sarah won nothing for Action Girl 'cause the nomination panel was full of stinky guys. All four were drunk off their asses.

I saw through Clearsky.app that I was labeled so I subscribed to figure out what it was. Then I saw yours, and I just imagined you writing too many songs. I guess mine makes sense since I got my degree in ancient languages. The account that did is still a mystery to me. It's @oracle.posters.rip

I spent my weekend escaping to the '90s by reading Hectic Planet by @evandorkin.bsky.social front to back while listening to Eric's Trip the same way. I want to stay there and never come back to 2025, but Harmony hit me with a gut punch about waiting for the past.
Cover of the trade paperback of Hectic Planet book three, "The Young and the Reckless." The Trombone Girls are on stage performing, Harmony on bass, Chako on trombone, Chandra on vocals, and Page on guitar. Chandra's brother sits at the drum kit, barely visible in the back. Various show posters are visible behind them for bands like Burp Choir, 8 Bald and Rude Things. Beer cans are flying at the band, and some people in the front row are looking back annoyed.

I want to thank @evandorkin.bsky.social for the occasional reminders of what an awful person Steranko is, so I could tip off my friend not to pay a few hundred bucks to take his daughter to DINNER WITH STERANKO at some local con. This is the only Steranko appearance we ever needed.
Two panels from Evan Dorkin's Eltingville Club. Panel 1: A mass of bodies in a comic convention with a Steranko sign falling over. Speech balloons: "Oh my god! Someone get a doctor! Steranko's been injured!" "B-but no harm can befall Steranko -- it's in his appearance rider!" "He's buried under his own fanbase!" "Why doesn't he just escape?" "Someone call security!" "Someone put that up on YouTube!" "Oh fuck -- OH FUCK!" Panel 2: The Eltingville Club look horrified. Jerry: "What if he's dead? What if Steranko is dead? What if we killed Steranko?" Pete: "We're fucked! We'll be arrested -- an' this time as adults!" Josh: "Steranko can't be dead! Steranko's a living legend! I'll never work in comics if I kill a living legend!"

I liked Evan’s podcast episode about it so much that I bought the podcast cover art and found the movie on Blu-Ray. It’s covered in episode 4 of Tear Them Apart!, “What We Watched.”

No answer forthcoming, but I was amused by this bit in Picture Show, Oct. 7, 1922: "House Peters: The Virile Handsome Hero of the Screen," in which he says his finest contribution to film was growing a beard in the Great Divide.
“Yet he thinks that the best work he ever did for the silent stage was with Ethel Clayton in ‘The Great Divide,’ in that he declares that he established something of a record by wearing a real beard. Screen artists have since been known to grow ‘beavers’ for a role, but House Peters was the first to sacrifice his appearance in such a manner.”

We used to have a great big whiteboard in the office and for a while I’d do a daily #drawing, usually coming up with the joke on the spot. This was a favorite, in the spirit of the Far Side.
Two eggs with goatees, devil horns and a pitchfork approach with an aggressive look of determination as a lady egg tells her friend in horn-rimmed glasses and a string of pearls, “Don’t turn around, Mildred. Those deviled eggs are back.”

I don't post enough for anyone to do this on my account, but the idea is to "Quote post with one of your favorite films that isn't a huge hit."
Movie post for the 1985 movie Fandango. Four men celebrate atop an overhang int he desert that's splitting beneath their feet. It’s important to note this so that you can understand his famous “22 panels that always work.” which references “Ben-Day” throughout. What he really meant was whatever process an artist used to produce gray tones, and when he says “white Ben-Day,” he means light gray tones.
