I think some people are missing the point. This isn't advice to forget mistakes without having learned a lesson. The lesson is learned with the recognition of the mistake when it happens. The lesson can be remembered. This is advice to someone who ruminates to move on & keep trying to live well.

YES I try to take solace in the fact that Americans didn't invent these tactics. I mean, as far back as human history goes, there was always someone using otherism to preoccupy the plebs as they pillaged the economy. I'm just sad that more of us aren't smart enough to not buy into it.

You make an excellent point. Not to excuse it, but I imagine contributing factors are the accumulation of stressors - widening income inequality equality, reduced buying power, increasing costs and uncertainty in education, looming global climate change & distressing geopolitical instability

People can't be summed up by their generation, obviously. I mean, we generally share certain cultural memories but that's it. I'm in Gen X & disturbed by how many lean MAGA, more so for Boomers. But it's pretty normal for many to shift a bit conservative as they age. Not you & I, clearly 😂

I do love this graphic bc it feels true, but it's problematic to talk about generations as homogeneous. Every gen has a broad range of politics. My kind grandfather, a WW2 vet & volunteer in his community, was a trump supporter (more by default as a R). It pained me bc I loved & respected him.

Good points. As I understand it, FDR wanted to jump in to help earlier, but the idea wasn't popular. He did what he could until the attack on Pearl Harbor rallied people behind the cause. And TBH, I understand why people wanted to avoid another war, so soon after WW1 and the Great Depression.

Well, we were just the last. Gas was leaded from the 20s & began phasing out in the 70s. An argument might be made for the larger # of cars on the road. 🤷‍♀️ But reduced lead in gasoline & awareness of lead paint probably saved our brains a bit 🙃 We're the "video games will rot your brain" gen 🧐
