A terrific shot! Here's my favorite. Fast & fussy They're a lot of fun to watch, if you can get a glance 😂 Thankfully, they come to feeders, they flock, & they announce their arrival. When we're walking in the woods, we listen for them & watch as they come through with chickadees, nuthatches.

Damn straight, I keep that coffee flowing. Funny to see it here, though, because I started buying it directly from the manufacturer a few years ago to bypass Amazon.

Yeah, we can't have those kinds of handles on our doors. Our tiny tuxedo hates a closed door. She absolutely knows what door knobs are for - watches closely as we turn the knobs and sometimes jumps up to try, one paw on each side. A few times, I'm sure she was behind a mysteriously-opened door.

For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #BirdBuddies I present 2 shots I managed when I was very lucky to see a red-breasted nuthatch on a branch & a white-breasted nuthatch hanging upside down just behind & below him. Since they weren't the same distance, they couldn't both be in focus at the same time

Collected wildflowers from the yard to arrange & bring to my mother yesterday. I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention because this little guy hitched a ride into the house on them. Promptly & gently carried back outside.

Here's a follow-up video of a tiny Green-throated Carib trying to shoo a much larger Bananquit away from the flower. He was not successful 😂 #BirdOfTheDay #FlowerPower

Here are banana flowers in Vieques, Puerto Rico, with the birds they attracted for today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #FlowerPower I took these in February during our visit. From left to right, a Green-throated Carib, a Bananaquit, and an Antillean Crested Hummingbird.

This should absolutely make everyone sit up and pay attention. We need strong safeguards in place before allowing this research and development to proceed further. Like so many technologies before, this is an example of laws & regulations not keeping up with the science & profit-motive.
Around 1,200 OpenAI agents worked together to cheat on cybersecurity tests they were being given, according to a new independent report on the company's Hugging Face hacking incident that includes a host of frightening details - such as individual agents, in their own terms, "sacrificing" themselves for the benefit of the "swarm."

Yeah, it's definitely raw nature. We watched him smack him against the tree branch a # of times, as well. I love frogs but a bird's got to eat. 🤷‍♀️ I have a similar less sharp shot of a common yellow-throat with a mantis hanging from his beak looking at the camera. Again, lucky timing & a bit sad.

Ah, so you say the alt today for #BirdOfTheDay is #KingfisherQuest ? Here's a White-throated kingfisher with a frog that I was fortunate enough to capture on a trip to Kaziranga National Park in India. #Birds #NaturePhotography

Oh, nifty, I've never seen another plumbago! I have a Ceratostigma plumbaginoides - I guess not the same family which is so pretty I gave it some space in my otherwise native gardens. It's a spreader, but worth the efforts to keep in check. Bold blues in summer, burgundy foliage in the fall.

They're native here in SE PA (zone 7b), & I love mine, but I have to warn you that it spreads VERY aggressively via runners. I have a few in pots & a few in ground that I'm seriously thinking of removing bc it's so much work keeping in check. Pots only, going forward. But so worth having!

There's a pair of house wrens in a nest box on my fence chasing away all kinds of birds who couldn't even get inside (like this Hairy). Tho, I notice they don't chase off the robins in sentry-mode. It's funny seeing these tiny birds chase squirrels across the yard, sadly no video of that yet. 😂

The #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Triplets so I'm sharing these American robin nestlings, in a nest on one of the nesting platforms on our house. There were actually four of them, but in these shots one was out of sight.

#BirdOfTheDay alt theme today is #Blue I took these images of a White-throated kingfisher with a frog in Kaziranga National Park in India. A gorgeous bird, and I felt bad for the frog, but everyone's got to eat. We were lucky to come across this scene. #wildlife #nature

They're really very pretty & the video is lovely (thank you for the post). I always laugh about the name, though, because they've very little gold/yellow on them. Our American goldfinches, on the other hand...

Same! We hated tossing cheapo cat trees, so we made our own: painted a tree on the wall, shelves along the branches, a 6' scratching pole (sisal rope wrapped around a PVC pipe we can re-wrap). Cats can now go from one side of the room to the bay window to the other corner like the floor is lava 😹🐾

Wow! My great uncle George was also there assigned a flamethrower. I understand there were few of them, so he was able to id himself in old footage. I don't have his service photo, but he's here on the right with his French wife. My grandparents are on the left.

We each do the best we can with what's available to us, & surely weather & other factors also play a part. The more I learn, the more I want to do. I found this cutie after planting spicebushes for the spicebush swallowtails. Hoping my pawpaws attract zebra swallowtails one day 🤞

This is one of our local squirrels. We have Eastern Gray Squirrels here, but a fair number are melanistic, having black fur often with dark brown highlights noticeable in the sunlight. You can see her back is very black, but unlike most of the others, her belly & face has light brown patches.

Ooh, your Virginia bluebells are already blooming! Here in SE PA, ours are just coming up. Such a welcome sight after winter. I see clearwings at other flowers through the year, but I'll have to watch the bluebells even more closely now. Here's one at lobelia siphilitica (blue cardinal flower).
