If you have even the smallest interest in AI, I cannot recommend Empire of AI by Karen Hao enough. Written in true investigative journalism form, it will remind hyper-optimists to be more sober-minded, and for extreme-pessimists, it may be even worse than you thought! Stay informed. Stay diligent!

It's also part of the no snitching fallacy. Street rules: 1. you don't snitch in order to take a plea for yourself and incriminate others 2. you don't snitch out of fear of retaliation 3. you don't snitch because the streets will take care of it, not law enforcement.

I attend too many edu conferences that I literally walk around counting the Black people I see over a multi-day event. The last one I attended I counted 9 over two days. There were a couple thousand people total.

I've been holding back on my thoughts concerning DEI rollbacks because it's simply tiring to keep fighting and fighting and fighting. That said, it's insidious on so many levels to take away policies and prior commitments to increase DIVERSITY, EQUITY, and INCLUSION.

I think my point may have been missed or maybe the snark was intentionally avoided. More direct- I find it interesting teachers are celebrated for using AI for time savings but students aren't celebrated for doing the same. Esp if both are just trying to complete tedious work.
