You'd best believe we got our hands on the two-page review we nabbed in @debugmag.com for Echoes of Mystralia. What can we say? We’re suckers for print. If a two-page spread with your name on it sounds good to you, you know where we are:https://bit.ly/big-games-machine-get-in-touch

To clarify: we are UK-based but can work with writers from (almost) anywhere in the world.

We’re on the hunt for games writers! Our dream? To find our next staff writer… But freelance opportunities come up each and every month, too. Please DM @mostlyalright.com (Nick, our Games Editor) or if you’re old-school like us, you can also send an email: nick@teamdebug.com Location irrelevant

Hot on the heels of SGDA’s fantastic Games Day event in Dundee, we were treated to Get Into Games by @intogames.bsky.social Two friends of Debug @alastairlow.bsky.social and @mattstark256.bsky.social (who made Viewfinder, the subject of our first cover story) shared anecdotes about indie game dev!

With Debug #17 fully shipped, we’re going on a road trip to Scotland! Norwich to Dundee, that’s about 8 hours with usual traffic. We might need to stop half way for a meal and a rest… Any recommendations? Leeds? Newcastle?

Red alert. Red alert! We don't have a pet photo for Debug #18 - it's the one thing we need before it goes to the printers! Does you have a photo of your pet with an issue of the magazine? Now's your chance to give them indie gaming stardom

By the way, we’re always on the lookout for writers of interesting gaming features… We are very much indie, and there are also limits to what will fit into a print magazine, but we do pay decent rates! Our standard rate is £300 for a researched 1500 word piece. Transparency is good, folks!

We have a section where we highlight games which are years away from being finished, so it’s always worth telling us about anything you’re working on. Especially if there’s an interesting aesthetic or mechanic. A game called Viewfinder got our attention when it was literally just a tech demo.

What does this mean for game developers? We believe, good things! If your game has a Japanese localisation, we’ll make our team in Japan aware, and there’s a strong chance of us covering you in multiple regions 🤩 English coverage of Japan-exclusive titles is also now very much on the table
