this is very awkward for Kemi Badenoch
George Parker and David Sheppard in London and Andres Schipani in New Delhi
Published 13 MINUTES AGO
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has been accused by Indian officials of talking
"rubbish" after she denounced the "two tier" tax arrangement at the heart of the UK/India trade deal negotiated by Sir
Keir Starmer.
New Delhi officials insist Badenoch agreed the principle of giving Indian employees in the UK relief from Britain's national insurance levy during her time as business and trade secretary in the last Tory government.
"It's amazing," said one senior Indian official. "It was on the table when she was trade secretary."

Keir Starmer must remember his mission
During the election, Labour promised to empower Britain. Now is the time to make that happen.

Whenever Philip Gould or I - or better still both - joined a meeting, JP would say ‘eh up -here come the beautiful people!’ It was never more than friendly teasing. He was fun to work with, mission critical to Labour, his legacy is immense - www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Donald Trump is right. There is a “swamp”, but it’s the left that must drain it

Surely this is an elaborate joke? Burglar sits down to read a book of Greek mythology. Full of stories about people ruined by their arrogance, complacency or being distracted at a crucial moment. And is thereby caught.

The latest polling on the UK riots from @yougov.bsky.social demonstrates how out of touch with public opinion many commentators (not to mention a lot of online discourse) are. There is little support for the view that sentences have been too harsh... quite the reverse, in fact.
