Reading has become an endangered species. Which is half the problem with American political life. Maybe more than half. If you can't read, you can't think. Then you can fall for anything. The idea, for instance, that the truth is fake news.

EVs aren't perfect. Neither was the first version of most things we use today. But the environmental idea is pretty simple: If we can move millions of people without burning fuel and putting exhaust into the air, that's worth pursuing.

I wrote about Nigeria’s accountability crisis, but the bigger question is universal: What happens to a democracy when political failure carries little cost? In Nigeria, this shows up across corruption, insecurity, institutions and public trust. africanarguments.org/2026/09/nige...

Nigeria's Accountability Crisis Is Fueling Every Other Political Crisis | African Arguments
In Nigeria, corruption, insecurity and misgovernance share one root: almost no one in power ever faces consequences. Six in ten graft cases never reach judgment.

Industrial policy is back because governments have stopped asking, "Can the market produce this?" They're asking, "Can the market produce this during a crisis?" Those are completely different questions.
