How does Anthropic lose 2-3x more money than it generates in revenue? Volume!

Kind of loving the concept being IA Presenter.

"Universal high income" has got to be a synecdoche and telling example of the hollowness of most of AGI and abundance thinking, in that it has to ignore mechanisms (how does this happen), systems (what happens to prices), and their own values (if everyone is rich...).

The Cornell r case has clarified an issue I had with Theo Baker's "war on fun" coverage at Stanford. Of course this was his first attempt as a reporter, but never did he interrogate why the (confusing, not good) party restrictions were put in place. Two words: Brock Turner.

Did Anthropic's Claude discover something new in biotech? Well, just like with those recent alleged math proofs, it looks like it was given the answers in advance from real humans doing actual research. (gift: www.nytimes.com/2026/09/27/s...)
Dr. Mestre and his colleagues have yet to publish their findings. But for the past three years, they have regularly used Anthropic’s A.I. models as they have written code, drafted manuscripts and performed other tasks.

In doing so, Dr. Mestre said he and colleagues shared key findings about the enzymes with Anthropic.Anthropic said that Claude’s key contribution was identifying an array of RNA molecules and a protein associated with reverse transcriptase in a system. But Dr. Mestre said that he and his colleagues had made that discovery over a year ago.

A good point made in Carissa Véliz’s Prophecy is how this kind of “consensual non-consent” is justified as a consequence of the warped utilitarian philosophy underlying Effective Altruism, and this carries over into the way that AI products are being forced on to the rest of society.

Dr Alondra Nelson on how AI companies use agnotology, strategic production of ignorance, to avoid accountability. They legitimize ignorance via design opacity; generation of uncertainty; claims of unknowability of AI. Move fast, break things. Cast themselves as both the problem creators & solvers.

Just go to therapy, bro.
DAVID JIANG, COFOUNDER and CEO of smart glasses company Viture, tells me about how he used to yell at his kid.

His 10-year-old son played tennis. During tournaments, Jiang says he had a habit of shouting and criticizing his son’s mistakes as he played. He wanted to apply pressure to make him succeed—it was the way he’d been taught to raise kids, after all. It made sense.

But then, unprompted, his smart glasses sent him a message. The AI assistant in his company’s newest wearable had picked up on what he was doing, recognized that his behavior wasn’t helpful, and messaged him about what he should do differently. Stop shouting. Stop criticizing. Just be there, be present, and show that you support your son. That worked, Jiang says, and being called out like that has supposedly made him a better father and improved the relationship with his kid, all thanks to his yet-to-be-released Vonder AI glasses.
