What gives away the game is business hires. Business profs make roughly twice humanities salaries, yet admins and boards of regents are engineering curriculums to push students into business. It's ideological.

Its the same dimwittedness that led to deindustrialization. It beggared belief that they would dismantle the factories and ship them somewhere else. But they did, and now the same elites are crying crocodile tears.

Look for architectural salvage shops and target built-ins. Because built-ins were made for specific spaces, they sell for far less than their use-value.

In the Renaissance people theorized, since the Aeneid is great, if you wrote poems made only of words & phrases from the Aeneid rearranged they should be great too, since a great source regurgitated should yield greatness. They produced NOTHING we still read. Thinking about that a lot lately.

Don't miss the Carolingian exterior! Also, they still have streets named Cardo and Decumanus. I was there for a great conference on saints hosted by Hagiotheca long ago.

Even the largest grants never pay for themselves. Unis regularly subsidize scientific research with tuition and, in the case of publics, state per-student allocations.

Because corporations are the ones who benefit. I’m with you, by the way spent 8 years contingent or unemployed. Harder to argue that your exploitation benefits enrollment when it’s research.

The major cost your class is subsidizing is probably scientific research.
