The spectacular RSPB Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve are renowned for the seabirds that can be enjoyed. But... other birds are also available! This Linnet and Tree Sparrow (feeding its young) were seen at Bempton when I visited in June. #ukwldlife #birds @rspb.bsky.social

Today's #BirdOfTheDay alt/theme is #Eating, birds with food in their beaks. Well… this Grey Heron found a dead fish on the muddy bank of Gwent WT Magor Marsh pond. A brief wash and it was good to eat! Yum!! (02.10.26) #birdingwales #ukwildlife #birds @robcrank68.bsky.social @everyheron.bsky.social

The water level at Gwent Wildlife Trust Magor Marsh was low last week. The Little Egret were able to wade throughout the pond. They can be seen shaking their feet to disturb prey - their spectacularly bright yellow feet likely also assist in this! (02.10.26) #birdingwales #ukwildlife #birds

Today's #BirdOfTheDay thanks to Helen is #BirdSupermodel. Any bird captured looking like it's posing for a magazine cover shoot... so here’s a Tufted Duck. No drama or OTT colours, just exuding restrained glamour. WWT Slimbridge, May 2026. #glosbirds #ukwildlife #birds @helenbennett.bsky.social

It's interesting to see different bird species together. There I was, taking a picture of the Grey Heron, when this Little Egret strolled through. I was surprised by how much bigger the Heron looked compared to the Egret. Gwent Wildlife Trust Magor Marsh, 02.10.26. #birdingwales #ukwildlife #birds

Late entry for today's #BirdOfTheDay, the theme is #Black&Red. The Great Spotted Woodpecker occasionally visits my Bristol garden. Unusually, I had my camera to hand this time, and the light was nice! (02.10.26) #ukwildlife #birds
