Maybe diversion to Iceland is a more reasonable threat model than diversion to Eareckson Air Station, but even that happens occasionally. On the other hand, I bet Eareckson has a clear plan for who takes care of the passengers and how they do it.

Some of the DC garages have direct ramps too; Shady Grove does although from 370, not 270. (Shady Grove's ramps are where 370 stops being an interstate and becomes Maryland 200.)

Yeah, Alewife parking is $9 weekdays or $3 weekends. (Shady Grove is $5.20 weekdays $0 weekends.)

Are the DC Metro parking terminals somehow a better model than Alewife? At least I don't hear about discussions of tearing them down... (The Alewife garage is in bad shape.) (I leave near Alewife, used to live vaguely near Shady Grove.)

(My main complaint is having to go through (potentially) decades of past tax statements to add up the OID to compute the correct cost basis for the capital gains tax at maturity (or sale).)

Oh, you'd move the N to terminate in the Geary tunnel instead of the Market Street tunnel, and the Geary tunnel would not have street-running trolleys? That makes sense, at least if the areas served end up with denser housing.

My experience on the N (admittedly more than a decade ago, or longer) was that the slow parts weren't the straight section on Judah (which is also outermost) but instead everything above ground before that, worst of all the Duboce & Church intersection.

In Belmont at least one of the cops who substitutes for our regular crossing guard (who last year was out every Thursday morning) was pretty good. (And he was the most common sub at least early in the year.) Did the crossing guard job, plus yelled at drivers who broke various other traffic laws.

11th grade, AP US history, colonization through Vietnam War 12th grade, Economics (1/2) and US government (1/2), no history. In all cases except 9th grade there was an AP option but you couldn't do both Economics & Government as AP without weird scheduling.

American, stoga.tesd.net class of 1998: 9th grade - "World Cultures", jumped around different parts of the world (excl. Europe and NA), not organized enough to remember time periods 10th grade - took the AP European history option, and thus started in 1450. Ignored everything before that!!! 1/2

It seems like these scooters etc are now 99%+ electric. (Still a much higher portion of gas powered cars, though many are electric now but walking around it's not obvious which set is >50%.)

Not clear from the abstract what counts as a vehicle, but... currently finishing 2 weeks in central China and I think the biggest change to *perceived* air quality comes from the replacement of the scooters, tuk tuks, etc that would have had 2 stroke engines a decade ago 1/2 bsky.app/profile/dbar...

I feel like the SF tech shuttles represent too many different failures of government: lack of a transit system that could serve those commutes, lack of housing construction closer to SV offices, land use rules that led to those offices being where they are and like they are, etc.
