you literally can not have a vagina without paying for it. vaginoplasty for some, period products for others, if you want to stop buying period products that's gonna be expensive medicine or an expensive procedure, recovery from surgery requires time off work and vaginoplasty specifically requires money spent on dilators. our bodies shouldnt cost us this much on baseline. having a vagina shouldnt have such a hefty tax on it. it makes me feel like i'm in a fictional dystopia written for middle school classrooms when i think about it.

Sometimes being like, even mildly aware of transfem issues will have you feeling like you're losing your mind. The news mentions that trans women specifically have been banned from something in a matter of fact way with no mention of the repercussions. On the internet people are loudly complaining about how this is terrible because it will harm cis women. Someone you know uses a term for themselves that is frequently used to aggressively argue against trans womens womanhood, and when a transfem friend rightfully raises her hackles, she is accused of denying people their identity, talking over and suppressing them, her own identity not even figuring into the matter. The medical guidelines are vague to nonexistent, left largely to the whims of any individual doctor, and besides within transfem circles this is barely discussed at all. Like it really feels like a great chunk of society, including some people who regularly interact with trans women, does not really comprehend that trans women have their own internal lives and are a real demographic actually affected by the world all on their own.

If you mention that being told you might be a girl would have saved you years of anguish and self repression, someone else will state that if they'd been told that it would have made them really uncomfortable. And everyone will agree that it's just not worth that risk. And you sit there going, what? How does that math check out, are you insane? unless you want to teach small kids about a laundry list of sex acts, they're not going to even recognise many acts of CSA as sexual in nature. instead, we need to have children who are raised with an expectation of bodily autonomy and who feel comfortable complaining when they're made or asked to do things they don't feel comfortable with. we need children to have the expectation that those complaints will be taken seriously and that they'll receive backup to make sure situations like that don't continue. if their desires for bodily autonomy are consistently ignored, how can we expect them to speak out when something confusing and uncomfortable happens with their parent, cousin, or babysitter? we've already taught them that what they feel comfortable with doesn't matter

The absolute bottom line of "male socialisation" and the idea that trans women uniquely have to unlearn & atone for some innate connection to "AMAB" upbringing is, ultimately, the idea that being an oppressor is a facet of your identity and not the result of choices you consistently make. The end result of this thinking is, **consciously or implicitly, believing that you do not have the same capacity to hurt and exploit others**.

Men aren't misogynistic because they're men, they aren't misogynistic because they're uninformed or confused; like any privileged class, men are consistently **offered** means of leveraging oppression to their own benefit and they're rewarded for this more than anybody else. These aren't privileges given to '''''AMABs'''', these are opportunities given to people who use them to uphold patriarchy & cisheteronormativity.

A trans woman, notably, is not going to be let into the Boy's Club because she has an M on her birth certificate.

If you believe that the average transfem needs to "unlearn male socialisation" or that she as a trans woman is probably more likely to be misogynistic, then the logical end result of that line of logic is that you consider yourself innately "safer" than others, less capable of wielding bigotry against someone.

Your oppressors are not marginalised woman who you frame as *contaminated* by the words of a doctor; they're people who are actively treating trans women like any other vulnerable class of women. When you decide that a group constantly targeted with vitriol and violence has to be kept at arms' length because of your own fear... That's you
