We can understand each of these dueling letters – and members’ upcoming votes on IRA repeal – as the product of the way each of the signatories experiences bottom-up pressure from voters.[1] Members sign letters like these – or choose not to sign – based mostly on how the decision will affect the probability that they will be re-elected.

If you can’t see any logic behind some of the things this administration does, consider that it might be about nothing more than demonstrating contempt for you & what you care about. And if you want to understand the logic behind that, watch right wing media for a few weeks. It will make sense.

Two phenomena are at work here that most reporters didn’t mention in their coverage of these stories but which I discuss in my book (Climate of Contempt). The first involves attribution errors we voters tend to make generally. 2/5

In contrast, the real cost of residential electricity has dropped from 21.80 cents/kWh to 16.62 cents/kWh.
While the nominal cost of electricity has increased from the 1960's from ~2 cents/kWh to ~16 cents/kWh at present, the real cost of electricity has decreased from ~28 cents/kWh to 16 cents/kWh.
