A short thread about how popular diagnoses of US politics disregard what we know (from academic research) about voting behavior. Several post election surveys (e.g. More in Common, Third Way) show that 2024 voters perceived Democrats to be much more liberal than they are. 1/5

In contrast, the real cost of residential electricity has dropped from 21.80 cents/kWh to 16.62 cents/kWh.
While the nominal cost of electricity has increased from the 1960's from ~2 cents/kWh to ~16 cents/kWh at present, the real cost of electricity has decreased from ~28 cents/kWh to 16 cents/kWh.
