Pi Day was Saturday, sometimes we celebrate with pies at work… π also appears in temperature metrology, in the Stefan–Boltzmann constant: σ ≈ 5.67 × 10⁻⁸ W m⁻² K⁻⁴. Every radiation pyrometer depends on it. Even emissivity corrections sit on physics where π appears to the fifth power.

We’ve come to the theatre with bargain-basement tickets to see 1984. I think it was around 1976 when I first read the book, and back then the year 1984 felt a long way off in the future. My word, it now seems even further away in the other direction #1984
