Watched a few episodes of 30 ROCK for the first time in ages. Loved every minute of it. I may have to revisit the entire series this winter.

I need to work on slimming her down a little. I've been lax about it, and she's put on some weight, which her vet warned me about; any extra weight will be hard on her joints, as she just proved. It's really hard when your pet children age.

Update: Ammie is feeling much better. She's done really well on a regimen of rest, puppy aspirin, and cold packs.

"This piece of art sucked and you should all experience it" is frankly an underrated type of positive review

This little girl sprained her paw, pretending she's still a puppy. Send her good thoughts and healing licks

A sad girl is sad. A ten-year-old corgi mix is nursing a sore paw while rethinking her life choices from earlier today.

Watching this meh movie with Chris Hemsworth, his accent keeps drifting into something straight out of a Californians skit.

Once I was dressed for a fetishy good time - cinched corset, thigh high boots, skirt barely covered my ass - and the doorbell rang. I thought it was my date! But INSTEAD: two Mormon boys who looked barely old enough to drive. We stared at each other in shock, and without a word, they turned and left

Indianapolis is ranked 4th WORST in the US for public transportation by Consumer Affairs using BAD methodology. Part of their evaluation is how many boardings PER resident.

The Civil Rights Congress, America’s pamphlet “Thought Police”: Record of the Un-American Activities Committee, 1947. #historysky

Blue and white vintage pamphlet cover titled "America's 'Thought Police'" with a subtitle at the bottom reading, "Record of the Un-American Activities Committee — 15c with a foreword by Henry A. Wallace."
The design is split into four squares:
Top Left: A solid blue background featuring the bold, white, capitalized title text angled upward.
Top Right: A drawing of a cop covering a man's eyes from behind.
Bottom Left: A drawing of a cop covering a woman's ears from behind.
Bottom Right: A drawing of a cop covering a man's mouth from behind.
The illustrations evoke the classic "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil"

It *did* reach number three on the US bestseller list, but peaked there and quickly disappeared. Definitely not the performance hoped for.

This morning I watched this video on James Patterson/Mr. Beast's 'The Most Dangerous Games' and how some publishers gamble that two big names with disparate fan bases can bring knockout sales despite the quality of the book itself. Spoiler: it did not.

6/6 Imagine how wild that is: opposing Hitler "too early” would wind up costing hundreds of US citizens their jobs, reputations, and careers. #blacklist #historysky

020

5/6 Their very flawed worldview: if you were part of an anti-Nazi group, it must mean that you were also secretly taking orders from Moscow. The US government labeled these folks as "Premature Anti-Fascists."

4/6 Fast forward to the Cold War, where the anti-communist investigators weaponized that history. They reasoned that since the Communist Party also opposed Hitler in the '30s, anyone who also opposed Hitler must also be a communist.

3/6 Back in the '30s, these politically active and culturally aware individuals often joined anti-Nazi groups, boycotted German goods, and raised money to fight fascists in Europe. Today, they seem like prescient antifascists who clearly and correctly saw the danger coming and took action.

2/6 In the '50s, during the height of the Red Scare, investigators examined the 'pre-war pasts' of ordinary citizens like teachers, professors, actors, directors, and writers.

🧵1/6 Speaking of the Blacklist: Did you know that simply “being against” Hitler in the US in the 1930s could land you on the blacklist in the 1950s? During the Cold War, opposing Nazis "too early" was a red flag for the McCarthyites.

Here in Indiana, our deeply corrupt Sec. of State handed all of our voting information over when they asked for it. I'm glad it's being blocked almost everywhere where MAGA and Project 2025 aren't in charge.

Hey, what if we all embrace the idea that neutrality in the face of injustice is never the move, because whether you intend to or not, you're just going to end up siding with the oppressor.

Iconic part of my childhood was watching the Carol Burnett show every week and watching the cast try not to break during moments like this. THIS moment? My entire family was on the floor, dying laughing. RIP Bob Mackie, who always understood the diva assignment.

Things that are bringing me joy: New recipes that stretch my abilities. The mullet guy reviewing China buffets and the little British kid who cooks. My new watercolors. LANTERNS on HBO Max. Listening to the Parker Series by Donald Westlake (Richard Stark). Cooler temperatures. And Bike rides.

Gross. Love the Pitt and have huge respect for Trauma professionals and many First Responders. ACAB; wouldn't watch.
