I love that Anne Carson won the Nobel Prize. It gives me a modicum of hope that the strange and the risky are still appreciated and celebrated in these dire, grim, AI-plagiarizing times.
The poem 'God's List Of Liquids' by Anne Carson.

“It was a November night of wind.

Leaves tore past the window.

God had the book of life open at PLEASURE and was holding the pages down with one hand because of the wind from the door.

For I made their flesh as a sieve

wrote God at the top of the page and then listed in order:

Alcohol

Blood

Gratitude

Memory

Semen

Song

Tears

Time.”

Blue and white vintage pamphlet cover titled "America's 'Thought Police'" with a subtitle at the bottom reading, "Record of the Un-American Activities Committee — 15c with a foreword by Henry A. Wallace."
The design is split into four squares:

Top Right: A drawing of a cop covering a man's eyes from behind.
Bottom Left: A drawing of a cop covering a woman's ears from behind.
Bottom Right: A drawing of a cop covering a man's mouth from behind.

Currently reading. My favorite Marlowe. Written while he was watching his wife slowly die. The Long Goodbye is Chandler’s most ambitious book. In it, he tried to stretch the boundaries of private eye fiction and push the genre into serious literature. I believe that he succeeded.

First long ride since my accident last month. (TL;DR: on a country road off a bike trail. Large pickup came very close. I moved to the side of the road but there was only an embankment and a culvert. Banged up. Nothing broken. Had to walk myself and the bike back home. I'm mostly recovered.)

Listened to a pod reviewing the 1st ep of DCU's LANTERNS. They postulated that Kelly MacDonald's character is named Kane because he was Batman's creator, and well, no, he wasn't; that was Bill Finger, after Kane brought him the name and a concept. That aside, Gil Kane created GL, hence her name.

Whenever anyone compliments my dog, I feel compelled to share her lore. That she grew up on a farm, was abused, ran away, lived on the streets before being taken back, and ran away again. The shelter kept her where we found her. In return, she became my best friend, constant companion and best girl.

Remember that once upon a time, the United States elected a Democratic candidate who then governed as what would now be largely known as a democratic socialist. The people liked his policies so much that they re-elected him three more times.

Some evil dipshits stole the 2022 historic marker commemorating the origins of LGBTQ+ Pride in Indiana. It was located downtown on Monument Circle in Indianapolis. Bad news, phobes: LGBTQ+ Hoosiers have always existed in our state - and always will.
Image of a broken signpost that once held a historic marker commemorating the origins of LGBTQ+ Pride in Indiana. Photo provided by the City of Indianapolis Archivist. Historical Marker Commemorating the Origins of Pride in Indiana.

The text of this side of the marker says, "Until the 1980s, most LGBTQ Hoosiers socialized privately due to safety concerns. In 1984, police harassment and surveillance of gay men in Indianapolis spurred hundreds to gather at Monument Circle in a show of solidarity against discrimination. While gatherings helped ignite the local liberation movement, Hoosiers celebrated Pride Week quietly until 1990."
