Does anyone know of a reference for a distribution map of sunken-featured buildings in Britain please? No particular need, I’ve been chasing this for some time out of interest. Google’s no help for once.

So, the big results from the Trump-Netanyahu foray into Iran - lots of US military equipment destroyed and now each tanker has to pay $2 million to get through the Straits, where it used to cost nothing.

In recent years, genome-wide data from thousands of ancient human remains have been sequenced, offering unprecedented insights into past populations. This vast dataset of ancient human genomes and their associated metadata holds immense value for archaeologists, anthropologists, and biologists. However, extracting insights often requires advanced bioinformatics knowledge, creating barriers for non-experts. To address this challenge, we present a curated dataset and user-friendly web application for published genome-wide data from ancient Britain and Ireland, including new data produced by the COMMIOS Project. The platform integrates visualization tools, enabling researchers to explore genetic connections between ancient and modern populations without requiring bioinformatics expertise.

Here we present the COMMIOS app, which draws on data collected by the COMMIOS Project (37.6% of the individuals) and individuals collected as part of other studies and collated in the AADR database (62.4%, Figure 1), and is a comprehensive, user-friendly tool that facilitates access to integrated data visualisation and exploration functionalities, lowering barriers for interpretation of the genetic dataset from Britain and Ireland.

Buttermere again - I'm not supposed to be working on this just now but stuff keeps cropping up. Who was the Swiss naturalist walking from Craven in Yorkshire to Buttermere? I haven't made up my mind yet, but an engraving of what it must have looked like arrived yesterday. The Inn is by the lake.
That's the 'Inn at Buttermere' by the lake.

'Buttermere Lake & Village, Cumberland'. Artist/engraver/cartographer: D. Buckle; G. Pickering . Provenance: Plate 36, "Westmorland, Cumberland, Durham, Northumberland"; from original drawings by Thomas Allom, George Pickering, &c., with Descriptions by T. Rose, 1832, Published by H. Fisher, R. Nice start to the day here in Buttermere. Formerly the Fish Inn, before that this was just the inn at Buttermere. Here in 1808 Vicar of Kildwick John Pering met, for the second time, an intriguing Swiss (he thought he was French) geologist that he’d first come across on the road by Settle.
