The "zionism is racism" motion that has just passed on the Green Party's conference floor is truly gross, and deeply racist. The party's MPs deserve some credit for opposing it, though they should've done so more stridently and sooner. This is now a millstone around the party's necks. Deservedly.

I feel like part of the inability from leading politicians to have any honest conversations around pensions, is because they have to face up to the fact that future generations have less assets, have much worse pvt pensions, and will ultimately have to work longer than previous generations.

From a German perspective, this is such a weird argument. I was a SAHM when my kids were little and they went to kindergarten, like most other kids. It’s not only about enabling parents to work – a good Kita fosters cognitive and emotional development. In fact, that’s the more important aspect imo

My friend's office is next door, I wasn't sure where she was at the time. Just heard from her and thankfully she is unharmed. What is happening in Kyiv right now is truly horrific. Millions of people are at risk of dying at any time. I'm not quite sure this really comes across, abroad.

Spurgeon writes quite critically about Elijah in his commentary on 1 Kings 18: "I suspect that Elijah did not think very much of Obadiah. He does not treat him with any great consideration...I know it is the tendency of brave and zealous minds somewhat to undervalue quiet, retired piety."

One reason England does so well is our second generation immigrants outperform their peers which is not true in most OECD countries. We are also very good at integration. And it's v sad that this is never acknowledge in debates on immigration.

Yeh, I like similarly how Brueggemann talks about the language of "decreation" in Jeremiah, it's a helpful term. It's a tricky one to do, homiletically - both what to make of the text, and then how to proclaim the text to a congregation without it being wildly unhelpful

I've dug this out of a postgraduate module on research developments on the prophets I did - but that degree was six years ago, and I wrote this particular essay three weeks after two emergency spinal surgeries and very high on pain, so your mileage with it may vary...
