Reminds me of the corpsman I knew who claimed to be a “school-trained mortar flipper,” allowing him to turn incoming mortar shells with an expert hand-flip and send it back to origin. I think this guy had the same joke but took it too seriously.

If I’m going to write a dream sequence, I’m going to make it dream-like enough for folks to know what it is right away. Or else imbue it with actual consequences, like: rage out in the dream and wake up with bloody knuckles and a wrecked room and oh no, did the character hurt someone for real?

And I’d rather not get used to it. I’d rather some really clever people figured out how to cancel out the sound. Or build drones that better dampen the sound so they don’t annoy the shit out of the athletes and spectators too. But I’ll probably be wishing for that for a while, alas.

I love a good revolution in camera work. The views that camera drones can provide, chasing skiers downhill or lugers down a track is really freaking awesome. I absolutely love that. But the omnipresent whining sound is taking some getting used to.

Other random hockey game thoughts: the Wings are playing the Calgary Flames, who have a player with the last name of Frost. And every time his name is called I think of a friend of my sister’s who I once rescued from a lake house bathroom, the door of which they could not unlock from the inside.

My stay in the worst hotel continues. Doctor friend came by to say he was here to give me my sponge bath, which I thought was a little cruel not to actually follow up on. Hanging here for another test and then maybe go home? Which would be nice as I’m almost out of @kbwagers.com books to read.
