I'm so excited to share a snippet of what I've been working on for @bokuakaevents.bsky.social and our 2026 exchange! Please enjoy a small taste of hybrid Akaashi meeting someone VERY important for the first time 🦉🌟

“Hey, hey!” boomed a voice from was much too close and much too sudden. “This is amazing! Man, I’ve always wanted an owl familiar. They’re so cool!”

Keiji froze.

He… he knew that voice.

No. No, that’s not right. He’d never heard it directly—not exactly—but there was no mistaking who it belonged to.

Keiji looked up from his position on his hands and knees.

Leaning over him, blinking owlishly even though Keiji was the fucking owl, were a pair of giant, golden eyes.

The eyes pulled back, revealing a tall, broad figure hovering over him. It rocked back and forth, its cloak swirling as it did so. The golden eyes—which were accompanied by thick silver eyebrows, a handsome nose, and a large, vibrant mouth—peered into his face.

“Hey, hey! Are you okay? You had a pretty bad fall there! I didn’t know that familiars were so clumsy, why are mine always so clumsy…”

“Maybe it says more about you than about the familiars you summon,” Keiji muttered, getting to his feet. He extended his wings and let them flutter for a moment, shaking the dust off from both the journey and the landing. He stretched; everything seemed to be in place, the apparent pain from being summoned already faded.

Time for formal introductions, he supposed.

“I am Akaashi Keiji,” he said, bowing. “I’m your familiar.”

Have a little snippet of the bkak I've been working on for the 2026 BokuAka Exchange! Wonder what's got Bokuto so riled 👀 Excited to share this one with you all, I haven't posted anything in over a year 🎉 Thanks as always to @bokuakaevents.bsky.social for putting this together!! 💜💜💜

The first man who had shoved past everyone was grabbing Akaashi’s arm and physically pulling at him. For what reason, Bokuto couldn’t tell. Maybe for a picture, maybe to yell more questions at him. But it didn’t matter. They’d gone too far now. Nobody should be putting their hands on Akaashi.

Bokuto stepped towards them, put his hand in the center of the man’s chest, and pushed. “Hey!” he growled. “Back up.”

Like a splash of cool water, the man’s entire demeanor withered. “I-I was just…” he sputtered.

“I don’t care,” Bokuto barked back. “You keep your hands off him!”

A sudden hush rippled through the crowd. All eyes, which had been on Bokuto and Akaashi to begin with, seemed to sharpen their gaze in shock. A nagging, sensible part of his brain told him that he’d just made a horrible mistake, and someone was going to spin this into an assault. But none of that mattered in this moment. Someone had grabbed Akaashi. Put their hands on him. Bokuto would not allow that.

Very excited to be able to share my @bokuakaevents.bsky.social exchange fic in less than a week (!!) Until then, have a little sneak peak of some soft bokuaka 🥰

I always knew your house would be like this, Akaashi.” Bokuto’s voice was soft, his smile gentle, and Akaashi, still unaccustomed to this mature version of the boy he’d loved so deeply, couldn’t summon a single word.

“Remember when you used to read me poetry?” Bokuto laughed quietly, and the sound slipped across Akaashi’s skin, bringing out the softest shiver of pleasure.

Of course Akaashi remembered. He remembered with a jolt of longing so strong it bordered on painful: the tangle of their adolescent limbs; their shared breath in the quiet space of Bokuto’s room; the sensation of wanting something so much it seeped into his bones, an acutely physical ache. In all their years apart, in all the experiences they’d never gotten to share, there hadn’t been anything Akaashi had wanted even half as much.

Bokuto plucked a book from the shelf, and Akaashi couldn’t tear his eyes away from the splay of his fingers, entranced by the way they spanned the entire cover. He swallowed, but before he could try to break the silence, Bokuto spoke once more.

“I was so in love with you.”
