Maybe I didn't really need a new copy of 'Salem's Lot but there's extra stuff in this edition and for the first time in years, his books actually have decent covers.

'Salem's Lot by Stephen King - tilted cover image shows a bat flying above the Marsden House and in front of a full moon.

#casinoroyale is back in cinemas for its 20th anniversary (what the HELL?!!!!!). I wrote about it, specifically Bond’s first encounter with Vesper, for @filminquiry.bsky.social on its 10th birthday. Time’s really got its skates on hasn’t it? www.filminquiry.com/10-years-of-...

Didn't think I'd ever see this again - Roxy Music doing Pyjamarama on Top of the Pops (with the usual effort to keep Eno offscreen as much as possible). youtu.be/9GVOtehIuMo?...

Off to see Sleepaway Camp at the Prince Charles tonight, which I've never seen. I quickly tired of the slashers first time around but time often makes film cycles more interesting in retrospect (plus there's the Camp Miasma connection). youtu.be/vImv6yxkxJE?...

An honour to welcome the wonderful Allyson Adams back into the kaiju fold at tonight’s screening of FRANKENSTEIN VS. BARAGON at the Barbican. As a child, Allyson travelled to Japan with father, Nick Adams, while he starred in three films for Toho. Thank you for sharing your happy memories with us 💖

We got two different endings! I prefer the one with the giant octopus who turns up from nowhere with about 3 minutes to go.

Besides Childline (obvs), that clip of Esther Rantzen getting arrested for obstruction is my favourite thing of hers. The way she rather sardonically responds in that slightly posh put upon way is hilarious. Especially sticking her head out the window. Pernod, ouzo, marmalade and salt all round!

My favourite film of the year so far and the one I'd been most looking forward to seeing.

An incredible interview. Q: You keep using the word “tough.” But I don’t hear tough. I hear messed up. A: You know, you’re right. I’m using “tough” as a masculine banner for something much more perverse and weird. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/26/m...
