Always great to have some live aphids join us for teaching labs - today to our Diploma in IPM students. Wheat on left has been newly colonised by aphids, while plant on right has had high aphid feeding for 2-3 weeks.

Bumblebees behave differently in areas with more honeybees. Does this represent competition and what can we do about it? Really, we need to learn more. Great to have funding from @researchireland.ie to continue this work, and hopefully provide better advice for beekeeping and conservation

Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) is in full flower in hedgerows around the country at the moment, really living up to its Irish name - Sceach gheal (meaning "bright thornbush"). Flowers for pollinators now, and berries for birds later. #biodiversity
