Thank you @garbageday.email for *actually* explaining why nobody you know has heard “Choosin’ Texas,” yet it is paradoxically topping the charts www.garbageday.email/p/why-choosi...

Maybe it's because I enjoy Unrivaled too much and am unhappy about something trying to compete with it, but I'll never be able to get past what a stupid name "Project B" is.

I've built a socioeconomic system that depends on everyone to do useful work and act ethically except the people at the top, who get unimaginable rewards for being antisocial frauds and criminals. And I think it will stand the test of time

(watching a movie where a character announces that he will destroy a city if they don't meet his specific demands by a certain deadline) oh that's probably the good guy in this movie

This is bleak: Jes Staley, currently CEO of Barclays, reassuring Epstein that popular revolt against financial elites is unlikely because capitalism and pop culture have defanged social movements, leaving people more invested in consumption than justice.

In case you were starting to feel normal and comfortable with all the AI bullshit being thrust upon us: These evil tech bros do not care who they harm and using AI even for silly or otherwise benign reasons helps train these things and prop up their existence.

31 December 1995. Still the perfect goodbye.
The final Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. The entire page is mostly white as they're in the winter snow. The pair is walking with a sledge, nicely duffled in in scarves, hats, gloves. Calvin delightedly exclaims 'wow, it really snowed las night! Isn't it wonderful?'. Hobbes follows up with 'Everything familiar has disappeared! The world looks brand-new!' -- A new year... a fresh, clean start!' adds Calvin. As they look over the landscape, Hobbes observes 'it's like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on!' -- 'A day full of possibilities!' Calvin affirms. They get ready on their sledge and Calvin tells his friend 'it's a magical world, Hobbes, ol' buddy... let's go exploring!', and the pair sledges off into the wintery landscape.

Never underestimate the stupidity of egomaniacal, narcissistic individuals who think their wealth is based on smarts and industry and not luck, privilege, and governmental assistance.

the extent to which media elites treat liberal americans as if they do not count in the body politic is a real problem

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

Gavin Newsom is a genuinely bad person and any admiration you have for him needs to be directed toward actually good people like JB Pritzker or Andy Beshear.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined. It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
