Yes. I've been saying this for years, mostly to deaf ears. We should always have the right to travel from here to there, pretty much anytime we want or need. But we shouldn't have the latitude to put other's lives and wellbeing at risk. Really hard to get people to sign on to this.

Ouch! Years ago I rode a motorcycle down a foggy mountain road. And hit a cow broadside. I did two full flips in the air and slid on my back for twenty feet on gravel. The cow disappeared into the fog. I think the cow was just shaken up. But I know I was.

The BC government has announced planning is underway for the Indigenous-Led Conservation Area previously declared for the Raush Valley. Protecting much of this old-growth inland rainforest from road-building and logging. It's long been on my radar. So, good news on this day.

I secure my trash can with a swaged aircraft cable and a spring-type carabiner. Fast, simple, and bear-proof. Every municipality can do something similar. Should be no excuse.

I hiked up to Broken Top Mountain and No Name Lake today. The hike I wanted to do was about 5.6 miles but the road to that start was closed. I ended up hiking 14 miles rated as hard. I’ll be in pain tomorrow!

#Fungi #MushroomMonday October 2024. This mushroom was growing out of the side of a well rotted log.

A pale yellow mushroom. The cap is slightly inverted, the backlit gills are fully displayed. The stipe is a dark amber colour. Sphagnum moss and linaria add bright green to foreground. In the background are dark green conifer needles.

Looking easy into Glacier National Park from the Great Bear Wilderness in northwestern Montana.

We had a mild winter. It has been a warm spring. The high peaks in Glacier stubbornly cling to their snowy blankets as long as they can.

These mountains were born to be cold.
