Ineligible votes are exceedingly rare, yet treated as a grave threat to our elections. But when far more ballots from eligible voters get rejected over technicalities, nobody bats an eye. And the imbalance works to Trump's advantage: demdock.com/4zfOYLe

The Supreme Court works best when its composition reflects the broader political system. Term limits and regularized appointments for the justices would help make that happen. bit.ly/3TARNHi

Hochul’s ads are all about Blakeman and Trump. But Constantino (NY-21) is running ads bragging about his ties to Trump. NY-21 could be the Trumpiest district in the state, but it could blow up in his face.

Even farmers who were already promised funds from the REAP program may never get them under the Trump admin’s new restrictions. Some are suing.

They're holding up a major escalation in Iran and a crackdown on abortion until after the midterms to limit political damage. To the extent that the last two years have been a right-wing smash-and-grab operation, the next two will be worse.

The renewed political smear campaign against Jack Smith comes as GOP faces massive losses in midterms. It is a distraction and a lie. Smith did his job as a prosecutor — investigated the facts, found evidence of crimes that could be proved beyond a reasonable doubt, and filed charges.

That means that in 40 cases federal judges have ordered the Trump admin to at least temporarily stop doing something that is probably illegal, and SCOTUS has been asked to let them keep doing it anyway even though it might cause irreparable harm.

Trump wants a Deal and it doesn’t make any difference whether the Deal is any good because once there’s a Deal he can lie about it but he can’t lie about it if it doesn’t exist. (This skeet happens to be about VZ but also could be about Iran or China or anything else.)

There are sci-fi movies where we receive a signal from outer space with plans for a machine or a genome for an organism, and we proceed to construct it without knowing what it will do, and I always wonder why we are doing that. Current AI development feels like that.

"This election is about the threat of trans kids" is the worst possible messaging for Dems yet so many candidates are leaning into it. No voter will flip R->D over it. Low-info voters read this as "you're focused on bullshit that doesn't affect me" while the base reads this as "you're an asshole."

The doctrine of “state secrets” that can block litigation against the government was founded on a lie that the courts never challenged. So yes, the claim of “national security” has a good track record of being used to scam the courts.

Really, the only powers of POTUS are the powers given by Congress, and POTUS has a duty to see that the laws of Congress are faithfully executed. To read the opinions of the extremists on SCOTUS, the President can do anything he wants until Congress impeached him and removes him from office.
