I get that the Leafs sucked last season. I look at the Atlantic and I hear all the experts calling the Leafs a Wildcard at best. Looking at the Sabres, Canadiens, Redwings and the Sens - What are they then? Sure they might be good but their rosters all have flaws and shortcommings IMO.

I always crave for Maple Leafs news and commentary, the sdpn has become a sad listen - I mean I know the setup and what they are trying to do - I love them. Oftentimes it is a painful listen - Steve gets staged to provide anecdotes and he can't correctly while providing emotion.....

Elliotte Friedman is not an asset as a so called insider. If he gets lucky he gets to announce a trade or a signing 3 seconds before all other "insiders"- it comes down to latency. His analysis is retrospect and he speculates 15 hours a week.

From a Leafs perspective I think a trade with Seattle Kraken makes sense. Rielly, 2027 1st, 2026 2nd for Shane Wright. Seattle has an abundance of up and coming centers. Catton, Fisker-Molgaard and now Samoskevich and they have Beniers and McCann(Who can play center) and Chandler Stevenson.

I enjoy watching the US national broadcast whether it is ESPN or TNT so much more than the Sportsnet HNIC one. Panels are better and commentators are better quite simply. I can't stand Friedman, Simpson, Cuthbert, Galley.

I think the Leafs should lose out and tank. But I look at Miroslav Holinka - A 21 year old 187cm right shot 90 kg center. His WHL numbers aren't exactly bad. He is a lot like Minten tbh. If you Bring in Danford as well - things aren't so grim.

Brad Treliving is incompetent. Why did he trade away two competent centers? With the UFA market being dry! All that to squeeze a first round pick out from Nicholas Roy. Competent centers are not cheap. It seams like his learning curve is degressive. How is Roy and Laughton replaced in free agency?

I would consider buying out Morgan Rielly at this point. Nobody will take on that contract even IF he waives his NMC. It is a brutal watch and has been for several seasons. I am sure he is a nice guy and all but he is an absolute liability. With the cap going up I am sure it is manageable.
