620/1000 The Smashing Pumpkins, "1979" - A synth-driven nostalgic sigh that was a big departure for the band's sound, became a smash hit, and led them down a more electronic path that would polarize their fanbase. Billy's ego was a drag but alt-rock fans could have let him cook. #brodystoprock1000

I don't get it. Does Collins think tariffs are good like the president does or bad? If she thinks they are good why exempt things from them? Aren't we supposed to be benefiting from tariffs? Isn't that why we are paying all these higher prices? Why exempt some things and not others?

I like Jackson Browne a lot too but man was his "sensitive guy with an acoustic guitar" persona ripe for a bit of ribbing. I love how all these singer-songwriters hung out and competed with each other in 70s LA.

621/1000 Warren Zevon, "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" - Probably the singer-songwriter that most had California's number, for good or ill. Does he mean it or is he burying his shame under a layer of knowing sarcasm? Yeah probably. Sounds like something you coulda heard in a saloon. #brodystoprock1000

I don't think anybody would have said it would be this close when Nixon won the primary.

So money that could have been used for Ohio's schools, health care, infrastructure or other essential needs is being used as a bargaining chip to support Trump's war and trick voters into thinking gas is cheaper than it actually is. Cool, cool.

Would be interesting to dig into the streaming data to see how much of this anecdata bears out. What classic rock bands have gained a foothold with Gen Z and Alpha, which ones really have lost mindshare, and seeing what kinds of tones and timbres younger listeners gravitate towards.

It was the movie that fit in a "let's go to the movies" shaped hole this weekend and our expectations were low, but there were some belly laughs, the pacing was tight, and it was a bit more raunchy than these movies usually get. The story gets pretty emotional too. It had its own thing going on.

623/1000 Hank Williams, "Ramblin' Man" - Williams' talking sermons as Luke the Drifter are corny in spots but have real pathos as they address the harsh side of life. This Luke the Drifter record is notable because he sings it; its minor-key yodeling may make it his bleakest song. #brodystoprock1000

I've always hated this cartoon and the idea that all things are equally good and worthy of respect. We should have strong opinions about art! We should have arguments about what's good and what's bad! Otherwise, art is just content that we passively consume.

It's weird though; with Republicans it seems like a lot of people don't want to believe what Republicans say. With Democrats, a lot of people want to believe Democrats will do something that they never actually talk about.
