My dad's first language was French and he's been studying Japanese for awhile. I understand a little French (very little) but no Japanese.

Stay conscious, you need to enjoy this as much as possible. Congrats! That's amazing!

I don't suppose anyone has considered that standing all day can give people health problems? Or is that the point?

I put all my trust in The International Association of Chihuahuas so this is very comforting.

As a short story writer I appreciate love being directed at one of my favorite art forms. Too many to name a specific story, but a few of my favorite short story writers are Dorothy West, Shirley Jackson, and Connie Willis.

What immunologists do to avoid colds and flu in autumn

Lots of solid advice from experts here but I would add masking in crowded indoor areas and medical facilities. Staying home when ill is great but people tend to be most contagious BEFORE symptoms kick in. www.thetimes.com/life-style/h...

So, I've co-written a rom-com (not my usual genre) and I'd love to get notes on it. Would anyone be interested in a script swap? I would be open to reading any genre, but I'd love for my reader to be a fan, if not a writer, of rom-coms. #scriptsky

This is a really interesting exploration of slop in music; I'd argue that it's important to distinguish genAI from other historical forms of slop, but this definitely left me with some food for thought!

Top of the Slops — The term might be everywhere now, but the act of copying and enshittifying has been around for decades, explains Ian McQuaid.

Chicagoland friends, I have a favor to ask. I have a pro bono client, a Black woman, who is currently facing charges for allegedly pointing a gun at her abusive ex - who admitted to raping her. I would love if there could be a show of support for her at her next few court dates.

Thrilled my poem "Bluebeard at Midnight" appears in Kaleidotrope. It's about the horrors of Bluebeard, but also community and support and what we owe each other. It's dark, but hopeful and defiant too. 🚪 don't open that door 🥚 an impossible task 💀 the dark we find kaleidotrope.net/autumn-2026/...

I have a new painful and mobility impacting thing and I finally gave in and went to the doc. I spent most of my Wednesday in and out of medical facilities and should have some answers next week but I'm managing my expectations. Just another day in chronic illness paradise.
