I'm newer to book-books though. more out of necesity for audiobooks while I draw. As far as Scifi, it might be a bit low-brow compared to the literary jerking off of Hyperion, but I really enjoyed The Expanse novels.

there are some bits in the later books that could almost have merit if they were detached completely from that whole mess, but there's enough in Hyperion that there's zero need to continue down that hole for much less of worth.

i'd say it's all those things you mentioned cranked up 200%. The TLDR is a time-jump rugged action hero protagonist in his 30s is recruited to protect the child messiah in her journey of enlightenment and time-shenanigans so that she's conveniantly "old enough" for some really awful sex scenes.

The thing about the green lantern show that i find so unappealing is how it reduces the idea of a green lantern to a cop who happens to be from space but the aesthetics of cops being applied to green lantrrns is as ill fitting as the aesthetics of the military being applied to star trek fleets

It's so cool to learn that while rob liefeld had a small role in a work for hire capacity in the creation of cable, it was the legendary artist jim lee who breathed life into the character by making him the son of Cyclops and Madeleine Pryor which made him an enduring figure rather than a footnote.
