These fragments from a Roman villa in Spain are not from a mosaic but from a fresco. If you look closely you’ll see a grid of lines, many following the contour of the figures, much as tesserae do on mosaics. This trompe-l’oeil technique simulates mosaics. 1/ 🏺 1st-2nd c. Museo de Málaga 📸 me

Fragment of a fresco depicting part of a human face, mostly the eyes. Thin lines form a grid pattern, simulating the edges of tesserae.

Fresco fragment showing a naked torso of a woman, her legs and pubic area covered in a red himation (cloak). Her right hand carries a basket laden with fruit, which look like giant globes of grapes. Grapevine leaves appear in the background. A Dionysian scene. The faux tesserae grid lines follow the curves of the body.

Fresco fragment depicting some sort of half-human creature with wild hair and bare torso, gesturing upwards with his right hand and holding a branched stick with his left. The faux tesserae grid lines follow the curves of his garment and body.

Fresco fragment with the torso of perhaps a god with golden skin, a red himation flowing outwards and partially covering his or her legs. Perhaps Dionysos?

something cheerful and seasonal

a vertical digital illustration depicting a dark winding staircase upon which a vampiric medieval noblewoman is ascending. she's holding a lit candelabra emitting a greenish light, and turning to the viewer with an expression of unbridled joy. the hem of her green gown and her right hand are soaked in blood. behind her are graphic, cut-out like shapes of dripping blood

When the status quo is cruelty and suffering, opting to not take a side is actively supporting that cruelty and suffering. I'm so tired of people thinking that not taking a stance is not a stance in itself. I'm so tired of people thinking by avoiding a topic they aren't actively supporting it.

I kind of hate taking pictures. Of myself and everything else, I just don't have the headspace to pull out the camera and take shots. I used to do it a lot during my early 20s but I kept piling up stuff and didn't do anything with that. They were lovely memories that were at hand, though.

Fuck, losing the visual archive of my 20s was such a devastating hit. Should've printed an album like people did 20/30 years ago...

Been slowly making my way through Roberta Gregory's Naughty Bits comics from the 90s. Such good cartooning. We share some stylistic instincts so it's been cool to compare. I also found out she's local to my area so that's cool!!!

Why would I mind? Because there are a bunch of experiences that are very specific to being a gay guy and not even allies can grasp the whole picture. Not even gay friends can lmao, they keep projecting their bullshit and their insecurities & I've been considering that paying someone is way better.

I think this person took it as shade (*anything* can be an attack to his self-esteem), though I don't think this is something to be shady about. What I really wanted to know was if he would mind whether the therapist is gay or not because I've been asking myself the same. I'm like yes and no.

I know psychotherapy is not the ultimate solution, but what I find very questionable is the fact that people go into these fields without any sort of conviction that it works for something & that solutions can only be achieved in an individual level, as if they were an example of that. Like wyd, fr?

Have heard this Social Worker complain about mood issues for the longest and I ask if they'd try psychotherapy. The answer: "I think each person must find their own way". ... 🤔🤨 Such an empty answer!!😭 Have you been able to do that without proper professional help? Uhh, aren't you a Social Worker!??

It's always people who are too comfortable in a position of endless complaining and contributing absolutely nothing. That James Baldwin quote about how the world is held together by the love and passion of a very few people, yes, indeed.

Shocked and saddened to hear of Marjane Satrapi‘s death. She was a huge influence on me. It was Persopolis that inspired me to write Psychiatric Tales. I saw in her simple, straightforward, and clear drawing style a way I could approach my own cartooning.
