The Harvest Moon 🌕 September’s Full Moon will rise tonight around 18:44 in the very East of UK skies. It’s our first full moon after the autumn equinox, giving September’s full moon the title of Harvest Moon this year. Sometimes, our harvest moon can fall in October instead 🎃

West coast UK people! It’s Manx shearwater fledgling season. Dim those lights or better yet, turn them off, to help our fledglings get the best start on their first voyage at sea 🌊 Coastal light pollution is causing them to become disorientated and strand in land. Many can’t be saved and die.

Today marks the first day of meteorological autumn, and the birds know it… I was lucky enough to see this ‘mega roost’, tens of thousands of swallows all feeding together ahead of their long journey across continents and ocean to Africa. Incredible sight.

True darkness returns! Our first night with true darkness has taken place, and now we take a steady stroll towards the equinox on September 23rd 🌌 Take a peek outside and you may just catch the glitterball that is Arcturus, which is currently dazzling in the Western sky ✨

Compared to this month in 2025, I receive £183 more income a month (Yay!) However, bills have increased by £334.02 a month. This is all just mortgage, insurances, council tax, water etc. No subscriptions, no frills. Does not include food and diesel. No wonder everyone feels skint. We are!

Not sure if anyone speaks bee, but what could this red tailed bumble bee be trying to say? Today a neighbour complained that a shrub in my garden was bringing too many insects in. That’s the point of the shrub, I replied, as I had this little one clinging to the sleeve of my jumper 🐝

FITBIT USERS So, the switch from the old app to ‘Google health’ has totally ruined Fitbit for me. The app is unusable. I don’t want Google having my health records. I don’t want an ’AI coach’. Plus it’s just ugly. Anyone recommendations for a different fitness watch?
