I keep getting this feeling it's going to be really repetitive and limited like release DBFZ, which looking objectively shouldn't be the case. There's way more variety in moves and tools on paper, so all the pieces are there for a cool game. But I just can't shake that feeling

(they didn't wait a week before release, they held out until they couldn't, which happens to be after the initial release date before it got delayed)

In case anyone was wondering why Robert is driving a licensed Pagani (as if you didn't know the answer already)

Dandy J @dandyj.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

Rock and Gato's Garou chains (j.A > B and j.B > A) if you crouch the 2nd hit just whiffs since you can still shrink your hitbox in blockstun. So no double overheads like Angel j.A 2D O.Chris light DP is now full invul so good for him

140

Dandy J @dandyj.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

Ralf basically has ground pound combo back, if you super cancel, any super will juggle on normal hit Athena gets EX dive kick into DP (+super cancel) midscreen. Unsure what to do w/ all the new EX fireball into EX teleport cancels (you can't seem to time it so they get crossed up by the fireball)

120

Dandy J @dandyj.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

Angel unchain hop corner steal doesn't turn you around, the attacks go the wrong way... Mai knee drop launches, can EX wall dive into regular combos Advance strike combos do real damage now (like basically the same as any other combo). Counter hit j.CD damage nerf isn't really noticeable

110

Dandy J @dandyj.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

King far B into slide finally works... if only it was like that on release. Can confirm into light nado kick, light trap shot for like 20% meterless Heidern storm bringer gives auto timed safe jump (as opposed to ambiguous cross up into another 40%) Kula far D actually seems pretty good now

221

Dandy J @dandyj.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

Clark tackle into the pizza toss cancels into running 3... which does real damage (40% off jabs for 1.5 bar) carries 75% of the screen and gives auto timed safejump (hold 9). You can also lvl 2 cancel that to cash out. Anywhere juggle EX tackle damage is down

120

Dandy J @dandyj.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

#kofxv patch stuff after doing a once over Beni EX raijinken (236AC) still crumples in combos, but raw just knocks away, can still get the 236236K super. So combos are the same, but way weaker to check dashes or toss out in neutral Yash is unchanged? Unable to tell a diff w/ the listed buff

On the other end of the skill spectrum, it was kind of like taking the weights off experienced players, allowing them to be escaping a throw whenever they were guarding without slowing down their gameplay otherwise

Dandy J @dandyj.bsky.social · 24/06/2026

Unsure if it's the floor, but Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown allowing the player to hold the throw escape input of direction+Punch+Guard indefinitely instead of requiring strict timing (while also guarding attacks). This became much easier as long as the player is deliberate.

I gotta say, seeing all of the defeatist "netplay will never be perfect" anti-rollback curmudgeons during that time being absolutely amazed when a game they played got rollback was really funny

SNK absolutely should not be a AAA developer with sky-high budgets. Their forte is mid-scale but highly polished games with strong settings and characters. SNK fans don’t want live-action films, they want anime OVAs

LRP: Current SNK management once again showing that they don’t understand what made SNK fans love the company, its games, and its characters SNK’s failures have always come when they decided to overextend themselves and somehow this pattern is still repeating
