All that colonoscopy prep to end up having to reschedule because I started coughing under sedation (post-nasal drip, remnants of an upper respiratory earlier this month) and they didn't want me to aspirate. At least I know what to expect next time.

I got home later than intended yesterday because of the tractor parade going across the Mackinac Bridge. I also finished listening to the audiobook of Honey in the Wound by Jiyoung Han. These two things combined into dreams of elderly Korean women protesting while marching across the Mackinac.

I'm in Lansing for a workshop, and last night I tried egusi and fufu at Jollof Afro-Caribbean Lounge. This meal was necessary after reading "Death of the Author" by @nnedi.bsky.social . It was very filling.

Anji caught a mouse last night. And growled at my husband when he tried to get her to give it to him. Then, when left alone, she dropped the mouse and neither of them were able to catch it again. But apparently she doesn't blame him, at least. (I was asleep at the time. Missed all the action.)

As inspired by @feistywaters.com , I have made granola with my oats. Organic Bing cherries from the co-op, local honey, chia seeds, crystalized ginger, and about every nut and seed (except peanuts) that I had in the pantry, with a dash of vanilla extract and lemon juice.

A sheet of toasted, homemade granola with various nuts and seeds, along with dried cherries.

I appreciate my black cat everyday. Everyone else can on Black Cat Appreciation Day as well, I suppose.

I sent out surveys to my #SummerScares participants and so far two have responded, both wanting to do it again next year AND continue a horror book club. One commented, "I like the diversity of the authors/collections. I would like to for the selections to remain diverse." Kudos to the committee!

I feel like the biggest mistake of my career might be donating a large rubber duck to the summer reading prizes kids could enter to win. >100 entry slips are for the duck, out of 900. I have not seen another at Michaels since buying this. Ordering it online would be a random color. I'm doomed.
