called (601) 387-6764, press 2 for personnel issues, and reported "your national guard unit is violating the law 18 U.S. Code § 592, they were observed standing in front of a ballot drop box in Washington DC and that is a violation of the criminal code." #DidThisToday

Everything these pigs say about classic music is purely based on vibes while feeding off slop. Can't tell the difference between good amateurs and top level professionals, don't know where the top level musicians come from and how they are trained, because these shitheads know nothing.

These so-called "defenders of the Western Civilization" wouldn't even know what Western Civ is even if it hit them in their face, and nowhere is this more evident than classical music where these ignorant pigs know nothing about how anything works in classical music.

On Saturday, I went to Best Buy where they were hosting their Pokémon 30th Celebration Event. There was supposed to be Trade & Play activities, but at least at the location I visited was much subdued. #Pokemon #PokemonTCG #Pokemon30 #BestBuy 🧵1/4

I have a day job, campaigns to help get over the line in November, ongoing renovations to my house, a child due in October, and we just had a baby shower today. It went great! But I have enough to do already without wasting time on the self-defeating nonsense permeating this place.

This has been an ongoing morass and I've largely been off here for the last week because there's nothing to be done about it. A lot of people are determined to sink and don't want a hand out of the water or even the suggestion that they just try swimming themselves.

The Communists were on the run, starving, under constant attack, and had just finish a series of retreats through the most rural parts of China and Tibet. Without Japan, there wouldn't be an idea of creating the 2nd United Front, Xueliang wouldn't have held him at gun point etc etc.

Okay, gonna have to explain this. This was less of a thank you for the rape of Nanking and more of acknowledgement of how Japan's actions lead to the Communists winning in the end.

While history is on the brain, I have a soft spot for books that go into their sources of knowledge. For example, Wood's THE STORY OF CHINA explaining how recent discovieries of bamboo shoots (they were written on) sheds light on the Zhou Dynasty.

In fairness, if you're the Yuan and Ming Dynasties you do get a lot of dragon sightings alongside this, which is somewhat exciting. Unfortunately the last dragon died sometime around 1905, when the last stocks of Vis required to sustain the existence of magical were plundered by greedy Hermetics.

I'll always remember my English teacher, Eugene Boyle, the anger he had as he said this was an act of "cowardice" at the start of class. But he was a veteran of the 1989 US intervention in Panama and also had words that military responses are not to be taken lightly. America should have listened.

Eventually the school day had to go on and the TV's turned off. But later in English class we turned one back on to watch continuing coverage.... until Channel One News ran at its scheduled time, preempting the coverage with pre-recorded news from a world before the attack happened. It was surreal.

It wasn't clear yet if the disaster we saw unfolding was an accident or not, but it was horrifying, and we all knew we were watching a turning point in history happen in real time on these small CRT's, especially as it became clear it was no accident. It was insane.

A quarter century ago today, I was a junior in precalculus class at (now-closed) Sacred Heart HS in Kingston, MA. Our classrooms had small wall mounted TV's the under the school's deal with Channel One News. Normally that was in the afternoon, but that morning they all turned on to the WTC on fire.

it's more than its contents, which is saying something because it really is jam packed with practical advice, as the back cover says. it's a family's demand that the world know the woman they lost, and to make sure her imprint on the world was more than her death.

it wasn't until i got it home that i saw that it was authored by a woman who died 25 years ago today on flight 93, Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas. after her death, it was finished and published by her sisters.
a photograph of a small blue rectangle of text on the back cover: "you can do it!" is the vision of Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas, begun a year before she died on September 11th, 2001, aboard flight 93. Proceeds will be donated to the Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas foundation, which was established by Laurens family and friends to support charitable causes and scholarships for women."

beginning of alt for next image:

introduction written by her sisters

"You Can Do It!

was our sister's vision.

Her name was Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas. Lauren imagined a book that would boost women's self-esteem by helping them achieve their goals, realize their dreams, and embrace life's joys and challenges to the fullest.

Lauren's exuberance-like her smile-was infectious. She pursued a career in markeung and advertising, Joe Boxer founder Nick Graham referred to her as "a sparkle in a gray suit world." She lavished love and attention on her husband, Jack, and or her friends and family around the country And she dedicated herself to tackling and mastering new skills, subjects, and activities. Our mother calls Lauren's a "can-do spirit, and we sometimes think the Nike people had her in mind when they came up with their "Just do it!" slogan.

Lauren tooled around her Northern California neighborhood on inline skates. Daring and fit, she loved the outdoors and regularly hiked, jogged, and kayaked. Ever interested in learning something new, she took cooking, gardening, scuba diving, and wine appreciation classes. Not content with "wouldn't it be nice" day-dreams, she made things happen. On her thirtieth birthday, she surprised Jack with plans to go skydiving (You should see the grin lighting up her face in a video made of the jump!)

More than anyone we know, Lauren treasured her female friends and made a point of nurturing those relationships that so often fall by the wayside after marriage.

alt continued in next imagealt continued

Perhaps because she was a grown-up Girl Scout (whose sash of badges hung in het office), her "do it yourself" attitude often turned into "C'mon, let's do it together" She truly relished the camaraderie, support, and sheer fun of pursuing new experiences with friends.

Tragically, on September 11, 2001, Lauren was flying home from our grand-mother's funeral on United Airlines Flight 93. Already a hero to all who knew her, she became another kind of hero on that horrible day. As the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States reported, "The nation owes a debt to the passengers of United 93. Their actions saved the lives of count less others and may have saved either the US. Capitol or the White House from destruction." Lauren was a certified emergency medical technician and knew how to handle herself in emergency situations. We take comfort in the knowledge that she left us the way she lived strong, determined, generous, and courageous

Lauren's family our mother and father, Barbara and Lawrence Catuzzi, our brother-in-law, Jack Grandcolas, and both of us knew how much this book meant to her It has been an honor to make it a reality We felt her smiling on us as we worked on it and can already hear her cheering you on as you use it to help you do and be your best.

Lauren loved a quote from the 1994 movie The Shawshank Redemption so much that she wrote it down and attached it to her refrigerator. It reads, "Get busy living, or get busy dying. Your accomplishments as you earn the badges in this book she envisioned are the perfect legacy of Lauren's extraordinary life. She always knew you could do it'
