The weather yesterday on oct 2 was glorious, too glorious for The Netherlands. But we had a nice outdoor lunch. And then I bought imported crisps, which is insane. I did enjoy them, but won't buy them again. #Netherlands #Amsterdam

A bag of imported crisps, in wasabi nori flavour. I find it insane that resources are spent to fly these in, to a country where we already have every flavour crisp available. Not doing that again.

An 8 year old girl, gave her my favourite book of that age. She devoured it! Yes, book is from 1970. Yes, writer passed away. But yes, know who needs to read what. Easy is not necessarily better. This was a book for 9+.

I finisished Great-Uncle Harry, by Michael Palin. A nice read and reason to watch Blackadder Goes Forth again. And still reading Playground, by Richard Powers. Awesome. New book: Margaret Astwood's memoir. And Remarkably Bright Creatures, by Shelby van Pelt. So nice on track with my reading goal.

A shelf in my local Dutch library: prominent display for Great-Uncle Harry, a book that immediately grabbed my attention. The cover shows an illustration of someone who vaguely looks like Michael Palin.

The novel Playground, by Richard Powers. I can't recommend this author enough. Almost every book is exquisite. I need to take my time with this one.

Kids in Amsterdam seem to have discovered fishing. Rather than stare at a screen, they go out, watch the fish, talk to each other. Some kids will be alright.

Apparently, bbc iplayer removed sketches from the Mitchell and Webb Look tv show that make fun of being racist and stereotyping. Because good heavens, people might start to think racism and stereotyping is wrong. Glad to have the series on discs.

Niemand wordt geboren met homohaat. Toch is acceptatie bij jongeren op schokkend dieptepunt beland. Nog maar 22% jongens accepteert homoseksualiteit. Dit toont giftige effect van oa manosphere en conservatief gedachtegoed. Wij moeten onze jongeren beschermen. Daarom vraag ik debat aan.

Day 3. My fingers hurt. I get these vicious grooves on the fingertips of my right hand and I'm questioning everything. The line 'played it till my fingers bled' makes more sense. I thought it was metaphorically. But I've played 30 minutes daily so far. On and off. When will the hurting stop?

My first guitar stands on its stand in the living room, in front of our white cupboard. Within reach, so it's easy to grab to play. Not that i can play any chord from memory yet. Well, maybe A and E.

It's worth the pain in my left hand. I got a guitar. My cat loves the guitar. I'm happy. I don't even need to buy records, or listen to the radio. I am entertained by my simple bungling on the strings. Why is g cord so hard? I love it.

Cutest salt and pepper shaker couple from my collection. Made by Holt Howard, 1958.

Pair of ceramic salt and pepper shakers that are sitting outside on a wooden deck. They are mostly white shorthaired cats with very small dots of dark coloration on their ears and paws, indicating that they are probably supposed to be Siamese. Each one has a polkadot handkerchief around its neck, one is pink and the other is blue. They are highly stylized in a way that was popular in the late 50s through the 60s.
