My nerves are frayed, and my hyper-vigilance amplified to the point of insomnia due to spiders strutting around my flat in search of a shag. Caught two in my bedroom last night, a female swiftly followed by a male. I'm hoping that's stopped my flat becoming a nursery for 70,000 offspring.

72 hours of self-inflicted self-pity (food poisoning) have ended. Went for a walk and found myself a few feet away from one of the local herons. First time I’ve seen one on the towpath side of the canal.

Outside, a duck seems to be giving the speech of its life. There's also mist, murk, and light drizzle. I'm tempted to head out before the Sun burns it all away. It's lovely. Trouble is I have no reason to go out. I have lots of reasons to stay in, and catch up on my own life.
