My nerves are frayed, and my hyper-vigilance amplified to the point of insomnia due to spiders strutting around my flat in search of a shag. Caught two in my bedroom last night, a female swiftly followed by a male. I'm hoping that's stopped my flat becoming a nursery for 70,000 offspring.

72 hours of self-inflicted self-pity (food poisoning) have ended. Went for a walk and found myself a few feet away from one of the local herons. First time I’ve seen one on the towpath side of the canal.

I don’t know where to start with all that’s hit me in the past year. Burnout? Arthritis? Learning that I qualify for a PIP assessment? The endless ghosting from non-existent roles? 16-hr workdays? I moved here for balance, not catastrophe. Dammit.
