🤯”Bicyclists are channelled to… crossings of the intersecting streets just outside the normal pedestrian crosswalk area. In effect a bikeway ring around the intersection is created”🤯 Holy Moly that’s a cyclops! 1976! And none got built! I was two!

It’s a diagram of an “off set crossing”, from 1976, which is very very similar to the Cyclops design!

California had a design for a Cyclops (maybe?) in 1972!

Stavanger has a hovenring! (Oddly the tourist board didn’t seem to be aware of this fact)

Stavanger’s “floating cycle roundabout” is less obviously pretty than Eindhoven’s because it lacks the “Central Maypole”, but if you’re a brutalism fan, it does float pretty well.
