Waymo is objectively safer than human drivers. You don't even have to trust Waymo self reported data, independent studies find the same thing (IIHS) A lot of people are just lashing out at all tech (for good reason), but their arguments should still be tethered to reality

The cop should've unloaded a clip into the tires, to disable the dangerous automated car. Then have it towed to a yard where Waymo can pay $3215 to have it released from impound.

No one wants or needs these dangerous cars on the road.

subcommittee that oversees all the DOJ funding. And we have seen this as we've been negotiating our budgets with them. They tried to include over 50 anti-GBTQ riders, what we call poison pills, into the budget. And we, as House Democrats, were able to take them all out. But they wanted to insert 52 pieces of wording and legislation that would have restricted medically necessary health care for transgender people, basically allowing taxpayer-funded discrimination against same-sex couples, blocking any non-discriminatory and DEl-type efforts.
But they are persistent, so they try it through the budget process, and they can't do that. Obviously, they're trying to cheat by coercing these hospitals:

There are often lists of the great living male movie stars: De Niro, Nicholson and Pacino, usually. How often do you see the name of Nicolas Cage? He should always be up there. He's daring and fearless in his choice of roles, and unafraid to crawl out on a limb, saw it off and remain suspended in air. No one else can project inner trembling so effectively. Recall the opening scenes in "Leaving Las Vegas." See him in Scorsese's "Bringing Out the Dead." Think of the title character in "The Weather Man." Watch him melting down in "Adaptation." And then remember that he can also do a parachuting Elvis impersonator ("Honeymoon in Vegas"), a wild rock 'n' roller ("Wild at Heart"), a lovesick one-handed baker ("Moonstruck"), a straight-arrow Secret Service agent ("Guarding Tess") and on and on.
He always seems so earnest. However improbable his character, he never winks at the audience. He is committed to the character with every atom and plays him as if he were him. His success in making Charlie Kaufman a neurotic mess and Donald Kaufman a carefree success story, in the same movie, comes largely from this gift. There are slight cosmetic differences between the two: Charlie usually needs a shave, Donald has a little more hair. But the real reason we can tell the twins apart, even when they're in the same trick shot, comes from within: Cage can tell them apart. He is always Charlie when he plays Charlie, always Donald when he plays Donald. Look and see.

For generations, this was viewed as unrealistic to implement even if it produced the best outcomes.

Patriots Day Freedom Fest, a conservative festival, was canceled days before it was set to take place in northern Kentucky, and include speakers like Kid Rock.

The festival's organizer, lawyer, and political commentator Eric Deters announced the cancellation of the free event on Sept. 21 via Facebook Live, revealing that only six $1,000 VIP tickets had been purchased.

... I put it together with the game plan and the idea that I could pay for it with VIP sales of $1,000 from these 100 people that I interact with on a regular basis," he said on Facebook Live.

Deters, who ran as a Republican for Kentucky governor in 2023 and for the state's 4th Congressional District in 2024, criticized the lack of VIP sales, adding, "I want to tell you something, rich people, as a whole, suck."

Deters confirmed that he has no plans to revive the festival, which debuted in 2022, saying, "I am never ever, ever, ever, ever doing this event again. Ever."
