I voted today in Maine. Driving around town afterward, I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of signage for down ticket candidates. It's like they got the message: "Hey, if your opinion on Susan Collins is getting you to the polls, here are some other people to vote for while you're there."

One of the factors in this is the closing of rural hospitals and birthing facilities. Having to travel over an hour to safely give birth is a disincentive for young, growing families to stay in rural areas.
