Well. I've done it. I've moved to Saint Andrews, NB. It's beautiful here and so coastal and lovely. What I'm enjoying less is putting my belongings away in this new house. I forgot about this part of moving!

I just started my new position out of St. Andrews, NB (am remote though until I physically move). Just participated in my first project lead meeting and colleagues were so excited to show me the view of the wharf and the coast outside of their windows. I'm really looking forward to working there.

DFO has just finished 2 rounds of workforce adjustment (Jan 20 & June 23). I counted 9 people I know personally whose positions were cut (including me). All are #WomenInSTEM and/or #LGBTQInSTEM What do you think, is it part of a larger trend across DFO, or a reflection of the folks I school up with?

Another hard year for the #birds & our team. In 2 weeks we removed 1.1 kg of #plastics from Australian #shearwater chicks (>8850 pieces). Balloons clips, clothes pegs, tiling spacers, strapping tape, drink lids, nurdles, toys, cutlery - the list goes on & on 😞 #SeabirdSaturday #PlasticPollution

A day in the life of a pink puffball 🩷⁠ ⁠ The rosy sea slug (Tritonia tetraquetra) can grow to 22 centimeters in length. The two horn-like structures on Tritonia’s head are rhinophores that allow the sea slug to “smell” chemical signals dissolved in seawater and help find its prey—deep-sea corals.
