Crazy idea: Democrats should defend immigration and immigrants, run on the idea that immigrants make America great, and stop Homer Simpsoning themselves into the shrubbery every time Republicans try to demagogue it.

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE FUCKING FIVE ALARM FIRE. The President is weaponizing DOJ to go after an opposition leader. It's a massive completely unjustified abuse of power by his secret police to shut down dissent and we won't stand for it. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/12/u...

Federal Agents Search Home of Rep. Ilhan Omar
The search takes places within the 60-day window of the midterm elections, when the Justice Department has historically avoided such investigative steps related to political candidates.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

I’m outraged by this attack on Representative Omar. Trump and his DOJ have a bizarre obsession with tearing down Minnesota, our leaders and our communities. This latest action, even as voting has already started in Minnesota, is a transparent attempt to interfere in our elections.

On one hand, a president should have no authority to choose which disaster-stricken states to help or screw over. On the other hand, no one who would help states that voted for him and punish ones that voted against him should ever be elected, or be allowed by the legislature to remain in office.

This man has lost his fucking mind. The president is declaring anyone who doesn't use his preferred terminology that he pulled out of his ass to be his enemy. The only reason this isn't treated as an emergency is that people can't take him seriously, which should itself be an emergency.

If you vote for the better candidates and they lose and things get worse, the problem is not the strategy of voting for the better candidates, it's insufficient numbers voting for the better candidates. Responding by reducing voting for the better candidates makes the problem worse, not better.

Republicans long ago figured out how arguments work and what their opponents' values were and decided to construct arguments that implicated their opponents' values as a strategy to gain power. There is not, has not been and will not be anything deeper behind it.
