Do any of my moots want 2 tickets to see Ben Kweller in Boston on the 22nd? Lmk if you do bc I can’t go anymore, and I’d rather give them to someone I like than try to sell them or let them go to waste. 😘

Picture of Ben Kweller with caption that says, “Ben Kweller: Cover the Mirrors Tour, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 7:00 pm, Brighton Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts”

Oh god I spent money on economic blackout day, and I had to use a credit card, but it’s so pretty?? And it’s for a small business?? And it would be sold out tomorrow?? Right??

Maybe corny but it was helpful for me to hear Henry Rollins saying "this is not time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time, this is what Joe Strummer trained you for... You can be thunderous in your own life, to the eight people around you. That rubs off... Goodness is viral"

Good advice for a lot of us. 🦋❤️‍🩹

Poem by Becky Hemsley, split into two slides. This is the first slide, which reads, “Put down the bag of worries that you are carrying forward with you into this new day. And set down the sack of regrets that you’ve been dragging along behind you for as long as you can remember. It is all so heavy. And carrying it so far for so long is crushing you. The worries are a future that may not happen and the regrets are a past that is gone.”

Poem by Becky Hemsley, split into two slides. This is the second slide, which reads, “And you are not there. You are here, in the present. Don’t be pulled so far backwards or forwards that you forget to live here. Don’t be kept so paralyzed by fear of the future and pieces of the past that you avoid the now. So even if it’s only for a short while, even if it’s only for a moment. Put it down. Put it all down.”

If you’re thinking of giving up here and going back to the other app, consider this. Elon is using the app to expose the names of civil servants. He uses the app to push his agenda. The app fuels his coffers: activity = adv$. We can make this a good place and draw more ppl to us if we stick w it.

A LOT of artists are doing Black Friday sales this year. Like, way more than I've seen in years past. That tells me that SO many of us need people buying our art. Please please please buy from artists in the coming weeks and consider us throughout the year when purchasing gifts.

Yesterday was harder than I thought it would be given that a month has passed already, but it also meant a lot to me to see so many supportive messages and virtual hugs going around, and I loved the children’s cancer ward fundraiser in Liam’s memory. So many wonderful butterflies here 🦋🫂❤️‍🩹🦋

Poem by Whitney Hansen, which reads:
I am in love with you
Yes you
The people with fragile hearts
I think you are the bravest
Most beautiful of miracles
If you cry when you read books
Or if another’s pain brings you heartache
If your heart cracks
For the sake of bent butterfly wings
Please stay that way
Do not let the weight of the world
Make you hard

This beautiful 🦋 app has been wonderful… let’s make it even better! Can we all double check and make sure we have these two setting toggled on so we are inclusive, helpful, and kind to our visually impaired besties. ❤️ Adding alt text takes < 30 seconds extra and is incredibly helpful.

Something newskies (and even some oldskies) might not know about: hide post for me. If a post has a gross photo or is annoying and keeps popping up in your skyline, click on the three dots underneath, select "hide post for me", and send it to the abyss. You never have to see it again. It's great.

For the newbies, one of the great features on here is that when someone has tried to quote-post dunk on you, hit the … and select “detach quote” and nobody will see the post or who wrote it and they will look like an asshole. (Blocking works like this too.)

From Barbara Kingsolver:

Truth and love have been smacked down, so many more times in history before today. Truth, because it’s often inconvenient, and love because it is vulnerable.

But truth is like gravity, and carbon, and the sun behind an eclipse: it’s still there. And love stays alive if you tend it like a flame. If you feel crushed by unkindness today, it’s a time for grieving, reaching out to loved ones, noticing one bright color somewhere in the day. Remembering what there is to love. Starting with the immediate, the place and people we can tend ourselves, and make safe. We can’t save everything all at once, but it’s still worth saving something. Because there are so many of us to do it.

And we are all still here today, exactly as we were yesterday. Like gravity, and carbon, and the sun behind an eclipse.
