The ICHTHYS project in the NT, fully owned by a Japanese company (incl part owned by the Japanese govt). $52bn in income. $0 in company tax $0 in PRRT But apparently if we do a 25% export tax they might get upset so we can't do it becaue it is vital for our economy O_o.

A pain for some, honestly a move in the right direction. Will be interesting to see if QLD State gov’t next land valuations will reflect this drop if it holds/sustained. With land tax & Council rates pegged to this I have my doubts they’ll be in a rush to revive downwards

Turns out we don’t have to invoke weapons of mass destruction when talking about ocean heat uptake. The ocean absorbed a record-breaking 23 zettajoules of heat last year, equivalent to 40 times the energy used by humanity. It’s not going to end well.

The biggest coal mine expansion ever proposed in NSW has been approved by the Minns government. It threatens to wipe out Australia's emissions reductions. This is a major test for Anthony Albanese and Murray Watt; they cannot provide federal approval to a project of this scale.

We (rightly) talk a lot about gas, but we should not forget we export a hell of a lot more coal and most of it is for burning for electricity rather than being used to produce steel. And all of it destroys the planet. #NoNewMines

Latest energy figures are out for 2024-25 - once again 83% of Australia's gas is exported or used to convert gas to PNG exports. There is no gas shortage. We do not need more gas. We need to #TAXtheGAS
