I was hoping for the historical epic version of Wat Tyler's past but this fails at even that. Wat Tyler demanded an end to serfdom, redistribution of church property among the poor, and an end to the aristocracy. This is Mudsville Man who becomes Robin Hood.

I loved #Lanterns but feel the ending seems to have been written by someone with a great deal of unexamined sexism. I think if the genders were reversed, a cop killing their partner because their kid was being taken away would end with John putting them down. Ditto the blackmailer.

You know the book banning folks are not serious. I actually mailed a copy of THIS IS MY BLOOD to the catholic church suggesting they ban it. It's available in libraries all over America, but classics are banned as evil. It has vampires, a retalling of the gospel, a lesbian hookup (Mary M and Lilith)

I used to re-read books, but these days, unless it's something I read a very long time ago and there is a new audio with a narrator I enjoy, it just feels like there is too much new material for the brain to spend much of it on things I've already experienced.

I've had it described to me as a solution in search of a problem. Without irony, its incredibly difficult to separate what AI can actually do from the insane promises of what it can do versus what it might be able to do. A lot of the promises made about is imply aren't ever going to happen.

I genuinely believe the, "AI could wipe out humanity" thing is something they're promoting because it sounds sexy, powerful, and dangerous. They don't want to share the truth that AI is a complete nonstarter of stolen art, language models telling you you're a good boy, and wildly inaccurate data.
